Okay, I've beat this one to death for days now & I cannot find a solution. The fix may be right under my nose but I cannot seem to get it.

Dell XPS 400 - There is a yellow ! in Dev. Manager next to "IDT High Definition Audio Codec".

Uninstall, reboot - cannot find a driver. After the reboot I get "cannot find....code 10).

Dell's site does not list any audio driver for this model that I can find. Under properties for the device it says - Location 65535 Internal High Definition Audio.

Searched high & low to no avail. I'm usually pretty good with driver issues like this, but this one is stumping me. :(

This is a popular model, or at least it was a few years ago. Anyone run into this issue before?

Try downloading the appropriate driverpack from driverpacks.net or see what drivers 3dp chip can install at 3dpchip.com.

Something I notice on the dell download site is that often you will put in a system tag and it will come up with all the drivers available for the tag you entered under the tab "Files for XXX1234 (5 files)" or something but right next to it will be another tab that says "All files for Inspiron XXXX (32 files). Normally that second tab is not selected and if you don't notice it you will not see the other drivers. Several times I had to click that second tab to get drivers that ended up working for the computer I was working on but was not listed for the system tag I entered. If you are not sure that you saw that go back and try again, but thats if you entered a tag.

Jimbo - good point, but no such luck. There is no box or other options like you described.

Tepin - I'm trying to do as you suggested; however, when I try to download 3dp chip I get directed to cnet & then I'm forced to accept a "download manager" & install it, which I don't want to do.

I did anyway & I ended up with a download manager/torrent thing but no 3dp chip.

Do you have a direct link? For some reason I cannot find it!

Tepin - Disregard - I got it & am in the process of running it now...

Don't know if I got a corrupted dnload of the 3dp or what...

I can start/run the program & it I.d's the devices, but when I click on the device to select it, it does not load a browser window like the directions says it is supposed to.

It just "sits" there, lol.

This is turning out to be one of those headache jobs...:o
