I have a church who has a standard Modem/Router from Time Warner (With the wireless disabled), and an ASUS RT-n66u being used as an access point for their wireless connection. The wireless isn't being pushed far enough so they brought me in to create a bigger wireless network.
I've heard great things, the best things, about Ubiquiti and I want to give them a shot to expand the network. I'm going to have my wiring guy come in and run Cat6 with endpoints in the ceiling where I will mount the Unify AP's. We are going to strategically mount 4 Unify AP's in the building with no AP being any further than 80-100 feet away from the last one. I don't know if 4 AP's will be enough but I'm assuming them being 80 feet apart it should be able to push far enough as the total length from the first AP to the last AP is probably about 400-500 feet.
I'm a complete Ubiquiti noob so I'm trying to figure out what exactly I need to make all this work.
I'm thinking we remove the ASUS RT-n66u and configure the Time Warner modem/router as a bridged modem only.
Then use this as the router: http://a.co/3RZ6RHH
Do I need to use this router or can I just use the ASUS as the router, or the TW modem/router as the router and just use the Unify switch?
The above router only has one port so I'd need to daisy the Unify switch off of their current 48P Switch.
And then plug this router into their current 48P Switch, then daisy chain the POE Unify switch (below) into their 48P Switch
This switch: http://a.co/7QWb4JB
With 4 of these: http://a.co/gYbE1rp
Will the switch provide enough power for the 4 AP's? Is daisy chaining this switch into their current 48P going to cause problems?
Is this all I need?
Where do I or do I need to install the Unify software to configure the AP's? Just install it in my laptop or some desktop onsite and configure it?
Do I need any of this or can I just get 4 Unify AP's and power them through their current switch using these? http://a.co/0xm8zkR
