I have a church who has a standard Modem/Router from Time Warner (With the wireless disabled), and an ASUS RT-n66u being used as an access point for their wireless connection. The wireless isn't being pushed far enough so they brought me in to create a bigger wireless network.

I've heard great things, the best things, about Ubiquiti and I want to give them a shot to expand the network. I'm going to have my wiring guy come in and run Cat6 with endpoints in the ceiling where I will mount the Unify AP's. We are going to strategically mount 4 Unify AP's in the building with no AP being any further than 80-100 feet away from the last one. I don't know if 4 AP's will be enough but I'm assuming them being 80 feet apart it should be able to push far enough as the total length from the first AP to the last AP is probably about 400-500 feet.

I'm a complete Ubiquiti noob so I'm trying to figure out what exactly I need to make all this work.

I'm thinking we remove the ASUS RT-n66u and configure the Time Warner modem/router as a bridged modem only.

Then use this as the router: http://a.co/3RZ6RHH

Do I need to use this router or can I just use the ASUS as the router, or the TW modem/router as the router and just use the Unify switch?

The above router only has one port so I'd need to daisy the Unify switch off of their current 48P Switch.

And then plug this router into their current 48P Switch, then daisy chain the POE Unify switch (below) into their 48P Switch
This switch: http://a.co/7QWb4JB
With 4 of these: http://a.co/gYbE1rp

Will the switch provide enough power for the 4 AP's? Is daisy chaining this switch into their current 48P going to cause problems?

Is this all I need?

Where do I or do I need to install the Unify software to configure the AP's? Just install it in my laptop or some desktop onsite and configure it?

Do I need any of this or can I just get 4 Unify AP's and power them through their current switch using these? http://a.co/0xm8zkR

The Unifi Security Gateway is very nice and helps make the system all inclusive without the need to manage other routers.

You can not get the USG and still be fine though.

What you might look into is a Cloud Key.

https://www.amazon.com/Ubiquiti-Unifi-Cloud-Key-Control/dp/B017T2QB22 (I did not price check just found the first one so maybe look for prices)

This allows you to manage the WAP's, the USG, and switches. It lets you set up an onsite controller than can connect to a cloud account. This helps keep everything local but still allows you to control through a cloud account after you connect and keeps you from managing any software on a computer. You can also install the Unifi Controller on a device but the Cloud Key in my opinion works wonders.

The WAP's you listed have a max range of 400 feet. You may not need as many as you think unless you want extra coverage. If you are ceiling mounting them they they radiate signal pretty good from what we've seen.

Getting a POE switch helps the setup since you won't have to use injectors but the injectors will work as well. Look at the POE requirements and make sure you are getting the correct type. Unifi products have switched POE types for new equipment so just make sure they are matching.

You should be able to go TWC Modem > Asus Router > 48P Switch > Daisy the POE switch > Connect Cloud Key and WAPS.

If you want to get the USG then replace the Asus Router with the USG.

Once connected scan the network for the Cloud Key, Configure, Adopt, and you should be good! Unifi takes a little to figure out the first time but after that the all in one system controller makes for easy management and changes.

I am still a beginner at Unifi but I think what I listed above answers most of the questions!

Unifi USG for router, unifi switch with Poe and unifi ac pro.

Link to cloud controller or key.

Most churches are using the wifi more

The APs come with their own power injector so you don't need to buy a separate switch if you don't want to. Make sure you order the SKU that is a single AP, not the multi-pack. The multi-pack does not include the injectors.
