This computer is running XP SP3 with most if not all updates.
Problem:
The printer consistently prints on multiple pages, for any document, including a windows print test. It may print 2-3 inches on one page, then four on the next, the maybe kick out a page with one line, then finish the document.
Printer works fine installed on another XP machine.
What have I done? Deleted printer, all drivers, registry entries, Stopped spooler and deleted spooler directories, re-installed with CD, and updated with latest drivers from Canon site. Still does the same.
It's not printing garbage as if the print job was interrupted and lost it's mind, it just kicks the page out and continues the sentence or picture on the next page. BUT, the text has a somewhat crunched look to it as if it was slightly compressed.
I've seen similar output with HP deskjet 930's 8 years or so ago when I was doing upgrades on XP machines to IE6. Something about the rendering within Windows itself.
The PC has 1.5gb Ram. Runs ok otherwise.
I don't believe its a direct Canon driver issue, but.... Also if you google "inkjet prints partial pages" there are hundreds of references...
It's not the cartridges, like I said you can carry it to another XP machine and it prints just fine..
I just need someone to jog my memory or look at this from a different angle.
Thanks to all of you!
Greg
PS... I think as a general rule, I no longer like inkjet printers as a whole...
