Got a Lenovo Legion 7 laptop [Ryzen 9, RTX 3080 16GB, 16GB DDR4-3200MHz, 2TB Samsung 980 Pro [upgrade]] - Only paid $1,619 thanks to my friend's employee discounts :)

I want to upgrade to 32GB.

What do you recommend?

So far I am leaning on Kingston FURY Impact. It's CAS 20.

A single 32GB module is dual rank and a 32GB (2x16GB) kit is single rank.

I'm assuming that I need to go 2x16 for best performance as it'll be in dual channel mode.

The best performance would come from a 64GB kit with two dual rank 32GB modules, but that's overkill for me.

Can I sell my stock RAM after upgrading or should I keep it in case I have to ever send it in for warranty repairs? I think Lenovo lets you state on the repair form if you have any RAM upgrades so perhaps they won't mess with it.

Any two CAS 20 16GB DDR4-3200MHz.
As memory is on a fixed clock, it's all about being ready with the requested data within the specified timeframe.
You do not gain much (anything?) by going beyond (and pay more) in any way.

Think I'm gonna just stick with the 16GB for now. No real need for 32GB - want, not need.

But, if I do ever upgrade, I'd just go with single rank 16GB x 2 Kingston Fury Impact RAM.

If I wanted absolute best possible performance, I'd need to buy dual rank 32GB x 2.
