I had hoped never to see Incredimail again, but...

I've got a clients laptop that had malware removed elsewhere, I see Rogue Killer, ADWCleaner, Ccleaner etc in the downloads folder. His email worked before the cleanup but now Incredimail has almost gone, there is a folder still in ProgramData.
Is there any magic to recover his messages & addressbook?
And yes, he is using it for his business.

Make a backup copy of the ProgramData folder - this is where the data is. You might have to reinstall Incredimail to get it to work again because it is definitely treated like Adware. If they were using IMAP, though, the mail is still on the server and you can just move him to a different client. If you can get the program installed, it will export contacts to CSV format. I believe that everything is stored in a proprietary format so getting it reinstalled is the best way. And if you can't export messages directly, add his email as IMAP as a second account and drag the messages over. Then a new email client can pick them up through the server.

Because of the junk, you might just install Incredimail on a different computer on a fresh copy of Windows to get everything exported out.

I know this is no help, but I have to post this. You're not the only one who knows a business user with Incredimail.

It should still be all there. the store is located in Appdata/local you will see a folder IM
you can install IM on another computer copy store to the same identity this would confirm it's all there, done it many times
once it's populated you can do an export of all messages, contacts etc.
rename IM store on the corrupt computer do clean install of IM and import, there are many ways this is just one example.

there are some people you just can't get off IM

The client had tried to reinstall Incredimail, 14 instances of the setup in his downloads folder, to no avail.
The incredimail & IM folders in ProgramData were both empty.
Luckily he has a home PC with incredimail and that still works, plus his domain host has a few years of backups, so they can take over.
Phew!
