Remote Support Software Comparison

Premium V3 is only $66.90 for a lifetime license. I don't see the problem.

yea I know its only $33 I'm fussing about (this time of year I'm really counting my shekels) I just have never seen a company not allow you to upgrade without having to pay for two licenses. I will have to pay corporate price for a premium license, seems unfair.

Ive been using GoToAssist for about a year and love it. Attended and Unattended support, and I embeded the connection page into my website. Just tell s client to go to my website, click on remote support in top right corner then i give them a 6 digit code.

Verry happy with it.

I'm surprised to see so few people using GoToAssit! It has worked extremely well for me, and with one phone call I was able to get a very significant discount (more than half off!). ScreenConnect is another great one, but didn't work for us, not because of the self hosting (this was very easy to setup btw) but because of our internet connection at the office.

I got a smoking deal on it also. Did the trial and each day it got closer to my trial expiring I got a new email offer to buy GoToAssist for a cheaper price. I purchased it the day before my trial period ended at a cost 50% less then originally offered when I first signed up for the trial.

Very happy with it.

LogMeIn just doubled their prices.... hmmmm.

Despite their website, they now have new pricing in effect...

I think I better re-read everything you guys have had to say on this subject and jump ship...

I pass by their office periodically. I could drop in and leave them a, uhhh...., "little present"... LOL!!! Just kidding of course.

When they dropped the free stuff I figured that there must have been changes, in management most likely, which is making them focus on profitability.

I'd love that...

What it really means is I have now spent the afternoon creating invoices for my clients with weird $2 / computer / month charges.

And I'll have to write some sort of letter / email stating what this charge is and why they are suddenly being charged it....

I can carry a few hundred dollars a year to ensure I have instant access to client computers, but not $1000. So everybody gets to pay in order to have me and my team on standby...

Which now means I need to develop a tracker which tracks who has paid, when they paid, for how many systems they've paid, and when their renewal date is... argh!

I think someone else on here wrote that they charge $10 / computer / month but then include free A/V and Malwarebytes Pro etc. ... that could work.... something to cover all this admin overhead.

...

This will likely result in revenues being cut to less than half, despite some corporate bean-counter's predictions of 'doubled revenues'....

From mere 'outrageous' pricing to 'completely ludicrous'? :)

and to the best of my knowledge, LMI isn't offering anything more for that doubling in price.

So the inventory control features are still a pro / plus feature.

I spent all last night building out a payment scheme to help offset these costs, and it will actually work out.

Like most of you, I have moved many of our heavy users to monthly plans, so adding in a $4.58 Remote Licensing Fee isn't going to break any banks, and yet multiplied out enough, pays for a $1000 LMI license (with a bit of extra to spare).

I know, I'm being gouged... but I've spent a ton of time deploying these licenses and documenting our systems and procedures (and LMI just works), that switching seems like a daunting task.

I've tried quite a few remote support utilities, but I'm not sure if its lack of infrastructure in Australia or just slow protocols but TeamViewer is the best for speed.

I've also tested out BeAnywhere which was the closest thing to TeamViewer for me.
But the branding and the process is not as easy in my opinion.

ChunkVNC, SimpleHelp, ScreenConnect all even hosted inhouse in a datacenter not as fast as teamviewer.

In saying that, I cant wait for the ScreenConnect Cloud to become available as that will compliment our remote support offering nicely without needing to upgrade to TV10 just for Adhoc Support.

The little bit of cost difference, in my opinion is worth it. I'm sure not to all though.

Also, you don't need to host it on a server. I plan on hosting it right on my laptop.

Errrr, Screenconnect's instructions specifically recommends against that...

We use a Novell product for the network WAN here, but we also have dameware, which is AWESOME. You can even package your own MSI's for deployment. I'm not currently in the market for the software, but I would definitely consider a 1 or 2 license pack of dameware if you're shopping.

Yes it does. On one that will be moved around and used. The laptop I used was stationary and set up for one purpose. I used a laptop due to its low power consumption.

I have been using Teamviewer for over two years now and wouldn't think about switching. I know it may seam pricey to many of you, because it sure was to me when I purchased it, but the Teamviewer sales reps will gladly work with you on billing. Almost everything I've asked for since my first purchase, I've gotten so far. One example is when I upgraded from 9 to 10. I simply asked for a 90 day invoice and I got it. I could have paid in 3 payments if I had wanted to but just chose to pay it all on the 90th day. Btw...I have their Premium version because I need it on multiple computers.

We changed last month from LogMeIn to BeAnywhere. This is a not so expensive alternative and with a lot more features. You also can get unattended access and also support your remote devices.

Another vote for Ammyy Admin. So long as you customize it with a STRONG password (8+ digits including letters, numbers, and special characters), spam bots can't send remote requests to your client. If you're willing to deal with a bit of inconvenience helping clients to temporarily disable their antivirus software, you can get a very fast and reliable remote support application for just $34. I'd even say it's better than TeamViewer. I just wish it wasn't flagged as malicious by so many antivirus software programs.
