We are trouble shooting a new computer upgrade that a client did, which will not post. We ruled out ram and peripherals. I know with intel boards you have to do a bios update to make many new processors work(in his case it is an older proc). The client has a MEG X570 Ace board and a Ryzen 3 2200g proc. Looking at the compatibility list, the proc is okay, but there is a bios update to make the Ryzen 3 2200g work.

We have a Ryzen 5 1400 which is not listed as compatible and does not work with the motherboard. I was thinking about getting the Ryzen 3 3200g as it is listed as compatible and use that to update the bios. Ideally we would be able to use this again in another job doing the same thing.

Do you think that this is a good path?

On a side note, Is that odd that a Ryzen 5 1400 is not compatible?

RTFM? All you need is a PSU on that mobo to flash it...

Updating BIOS with Flash BIOS Button

Before updating: Please download the latest BIOS file that matches your motherboard model from MSI®website and rename the BIOS file to MSI.ROM. And then, save the MSI.ROM file to the root of USB flash drive.

Important: Only the FAT32 format USB flash drive supports updating BIOS by Flash BIOS Button.

1.Connect power supply to CPU_PWR1 and ATX_PWR1. (No other components are necessary but power supply.)
2.Plug the USB flash drive that contains the MSI.ROM file into the Flash BIOS Port on rear I/O panel.
3.Press the Flash BIOS Button to flash BIOS, and the button LED starts flashing.
4.After the flashing BIOS process is 100% completed, the LED would be off simultaneously.

No I did not read the f*cking manual. I had no idea that was possible on any motherboard. Thanks for the heads up
