How does it take you guys so long to do a reimage? with all updates Vista takes me about 3 -3.5hrs of bench time including drivers, software, and updates.... 7 is closer 1.5hrs, XP is about 2.5hrs.... data transfer adds about 30mins typically...... I don't even use images anymore as they usually took as long as a fresh install. I guess I just can't figure it out lol

In general, with everything that I do, Vista can take 4-6 hours. Thats installing the latest updates, drivers, applications anti-virus, etc. After making my own image, I can do it all in 1.5 hours.

hmmm never had one take that long.... I actually just did one this afternoon 2.5hrs and that was downloading all updates from MS, and downloading AV, Office, program updates, and doing a post install tuneup.

I guess for us if it's on the bench for 1.5 or 2.5 it really doesn't matter.... as long as it isn't taking more "work" time then it's ok.

Well, since you said that, consider this. All those things you do takes time from your other work every time you have to click on something or check back to see if something is done, bla bla bla. When you make your own image, you do necessarily have to do all that. Most if not all of it can be automated.

It removes the restriction of which version you install when installing the operating system. EG: Take an image of a Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit install dvd, remove a tiny file on the image called 'efi.cfg', and the disk will then allow you to choose which version you install (Home Premium, Enterprise, Ultimate, Professional, Starter (I think), and Home Basic; all still 64bit like the original copy). It's perfectly legal, there's also a utility to do the work for you:
