Teamviewer REPLACEMENT - Their customer service is Terrible!!!

Hey all - just had a really bad experience with teamveiwer. I use the program mainly for personal use between my own computers (yes, even lazily from upstairs to downstairs sometimes!).

**TL:DR - Teamviewer blocked me, and I need someone with a valid teamviewer license to help me get into my system (I am away!) so I can get switched to a new remote software (recommendations needed!!)**

However, I DO occasionally help customers with it, but rarely make money doing so (the quick 5 min adjusting font size calls etc). So when teamviewer came calling asking what I would be willing to pay for it, I made an offer and it was accepted for 2 years.

Now 2 years is up, and I either accidentally deleted, or never got the renewal notice that prices were going to skyrocket back to full corporation level pricing.

So naturally I was shocked when I checked my CC bill to see that massive charge.

I immediatelly called TV, and asked for the pricing from the last two years to be honored, and I would be happy to continue to pay it. Nope. So then I told them that I mostly use the program for personal use, so just switch me back to the free license then and cancel the business license. NOPE. I didn't give enough notice - so no cancellation. This is within SIX DAYS of my CC being charged for a YEAR of service. I even asked to pro-rate charge me for the first entire month, and then cancel it - Nope... The 'best' they could do was cancel the following year.

That is OUTRAGEOUS customer service. If I offered a customer a year of tech support coverage at XYZ price, and they called to cancel within a WEEK - and I refused to refund ANY money, you can imagine the hell they would put me through.

So now, I need some help. I am out of town, and I use TV to access my system at home. TV has blocked my licensed account, and will apparently only allow access to it from ANOTHER licensed account. Anyone here willing to log into my system here, reverse the screen, and let me log into my system at home?

But before that, I need some recommendations on a good (and FAIR) remote program. One that I can use free for a bit first.

If I'm reading this correctly the charged you for a full year and you can't log in? Or is the new license different than the old one so you can't see it in the cp.

Anydesk is free but it's also a Chinese company which always has me concerned.

I stand corrected.

The refused to cancel the purchase - so I successfully disputed the charge on my credit card. It was amazing how they COULDN'T do anything for me on the phone - but how fast they COULD do something when the money wasn't there...

To be spiteful, instead of just converting me back to a free customer - they seem to have locked me out. Apparently I need someone with an actual teamviewer license to be able to log into my computer.

I'm still not understanding this. How can Teamviewer prevent you walking up to your computer and logging in (to the computer, not Teamviewer).

I'm almost certain I still have Teamviewer (free) on my other laptop.

I am away from my house right now.... I am not physically at the system that has teamviewer on it. The only way for me to remotely log into it is with TV at the moment. And now that they have locked me out - I am in a bind.

Anydesk is actually a German company. I been using them for the past 5 years with no issues. I been using the Lite plan, and I am probably now just grandfathered into that price because I pay $80 USD a year and it works perfectly for me and what I need. They have come a long way since I signed up with them back in 2016.

Perfect alternative to Teamviewer if you ask me.

I can't recommend Splashtop highly enough. Their service is excellent and extremely affordable. I came from Teamviewer too (version 11 if that makes a difference) and Splashtop works just as good at a fraction of the cost.

EDIT: One thing I LOVE about Splashtop is the fact that I can install the software to control computers on an UNLIMITED number of computers. I've got like 10 computers in my house and I want to be able to control any computer I want FROM any computer I want. Splashtop doesn't charge per computer, but per concurrent session. AnyDesk, Teamviewer, and most alternatives only allow you to install the control software on 3 computers unless you buy their super expensive plans.

We use our RMM....so currently it's Syncro, which uses Splashtop for its primary remote agent.
We also have a Splashtop Business account.
Good product, performance, security, remote printing works great too.

Try the following if you know the TV code on your home computer.
1. Create a new disposable email
2. Create a new account on your laptop computer
3. Download and install TV under the new computer account.
4. Run TV and register under the new mail. Then try to connect.

https://ultraviewer.net/en/ is a popular free Teamviewer alternative.

Sounds like TeamViewer is going the LogMeIn route. Used to love LogMeIn but they got really greedy, really fast. I stayed with them for a year or two at a discount but that went away and non discount rates went up along with it. On the last renewal they somehow were able to charge by credit card that had been replaced by my bank several months prior.

Sounds like something teamviewer would do. If they had just worked with me even a little bit, I would still be their customer.

So no one has a paid version of teamviewer we could try and use to get into my remote system and install another viewer onto it?

Install a virtual machine, and try a new Teamviewer install on it....

Once done with TV, you can worry about the plethora of alternatives, Ultraviewer, Awesun, CLoudberry Labs/MSP360's Remote Desktop, etc...

I got my Teamviewer bill on Monday morning.
The price has stayed the same for the last 3 years which is nice.
I went ahead and paid the invoice via EFT and then discovered that they had already charged me on my CC.
I called the local office in Adelaide and the guy, Sudoh, was very helpful in crediting back the overpayment.

Everytime I've called their office they have been friendly, understanding and very patient.
I'll keep using TV because there is nothing better.

I just left LMIR after 12 years, I moved to AnyDesk. I think I paid $191 for a year, and I really like it. I have a few hiccups on occasion but overall, it's so fast to connect and it's been fun using a new program. Clients like it.

@Barcelona Here in the US TeamViewer's cheapest most basic plan is 3x what you're paying and if you want to connect from more than ONE single computer, it's 6x what you're paying. They've gotten extremely greedy and with the restriction of not being able to use it on more than one computer, it's basically useless for me. This is why people are dumping them. If they charged $225/month and allowed you to install their remote control software on more than one computer, I'd still be with them.

They've always been a sleazy company, doing crap like preventing you from connecting to users who download the most recent version of their software from their website if your version was 1 version behind. Ever since they dropped the perpetual license they've just gotten more and more sleazy and more and more greedy. Maybe they're different in Australia, but if I were you I'd start looking for an alternative.
