So have a windows 10 business class Lenevo.

Earlier today it had the balloon in the lower right corner about ublock origin has crashed "click here" to reload this extension.

You just get the sad face no matter where you go. Uninstalling with Revo and using advanced and deleting everything doesn't work. Tried that about 4 different times.

Even installing an old version of chrome changes nothing. Never quite seen this before. But the culprit seems to be ublock origin.

Even did a system image restore from 4 days ago where things did work and still nothing. Baffling to me lol. I put them onto Firefox for now but I'm sure if they're like

everyone else they'll want chrome to work eventually. Any tips of anything else to try?

**Also in Revo there's a section in there the shows deleting an "extensions" folder so I thought that would have solved it but still get the sad face when trying to open anything in chrome.

Thank you.

Also, make sure that they are actually using uBlock Origin (Raymond Gorhill) and not uBlock.

I have been using uBlock Origin in multiple Chromium-based browsers, including Edge, "forever" along with Firefox. Nary a bump, so this is an exception situation.

@Porthos is on to something about disabling sync if it's currently in use. Worth a try at the very least.

This ^^^^
I had several clients get the wrong one and had various issues.

Hmm, I have a "Chrome crashing" email from a client this morning, wonder if it's related. Typing this on Chrome with uBlock Origin installed right now, however.

Found the fix!

This is caused by Origins Trials Component version 1.0.0.7.

1. Open manifest.json in %localappdata%\Google\Chrome\User Data\OriginTrials\1.0.0.7
2. Remove contents of signatures
"disabled-tokens" : {
"signatures" : [ ]
}
3. Save file and relaunch browser twice.

I've had two phone calls this morning. Didn't see this until now.

@add - Customer can't open the "Extensions" tab in Chrome to even check for Ublock. Crashes back to the menu.

I'm not understanding the fix. There's no reference to tokens or signatures in 1.0.0.6 or is that unique to 1.0.0.7? Here's my 1.0.0.6 manifest.json -

{
"description" : "Origin Trials public key updates and disabled features list",
"manifest_version" : 2,
"minimum_chrome_version" : "50",
"name" : "Origin Trials Updates",
"origin-trials" :
{
"disabled-features" :
[
"SecurePaymentConfirmation"
]
},
"update_url" : "https://clients2.google.com/service/update2/crx",
"version" : "1.0.0.6"
}

Would that not disable the ability of the extension to update?

I have no idea. I simply wanted to share something, from a reliable source, that indicates that this is not an isolated problem, nor is it a "everyone's got it" problem, either.

I'm still fine here. I'm sure that there's a lot of scrambling going on as far as finding the simplest "silver bullet" for whatever's happening here.
