Hello there,

I've just managed to install Untangle on my HP Microserver and got it working however...

I've installed the Ad Blocker appliance but I'm still seeing a few ads getting through i.e. Facebook ads (on the right handside). When using the Ad blocker extension for Chrome it stops these ads.

Is this some sort of HTTPS restriction? Anyway I can get around it? Or can you recommended anything like Untangle to use instead?

Thanks,
Jason

Adblock won't auto update, manually update it. There's a button in the main settings page of the Adblock module.

What do you have the external DNS set to on the Untangle box?

I know they (Untangle support) don't recommend using public DNS servers that do not support DNSBL, such as OpenDNS, Google DNS, etc.

But...hmmm...just tried it, I'm onsite at a client that I have behind Untangle..and fired up Internet Exploader (since I don't have adblock in that)...and I see a box of small ads on the right margin. I never see ads otherwise....but I always use Chrome with the adblock plus add-in. Most ads seem to be blocked if I surf other sites, but yeah I notice that one box shows up in FB. I know adblock is only about 90% effective. Not sure about it...have you looked in Untangles forums?

Yeah I popped over to the forums earlier and it looks pretty much dead and unsupported.

Hmm? they're usually quite busy/active...at least the top several forums (hardware/networking/installation)...the sub component forums down below are often slow. Just checked..they have daily activity.

Anyways...I wonder if it has to do with httpS sessions, and the HTTPS inspector having to be enabled. I'll post over there.

I love untangle and have many clients behind UT. Their forums are very active and the mods are very responsive and helpful. Always have been for me.

Let us know what you find. Ad Blocker doesn't block 100% for me but does a pretty good job
