Greetings, I am trying to use Windows 7 to VPN (PPTP) to
Server SBS 2008. I am not interested in DirectAccess or
the other protocols. I do not know why the PPTP keeps bouncing
me back with 619 or 812 error msgs. I have worked with all of
the authentication. Yes, I have all the correct user ID permissions
and all that jazz.

Windows 7 VPN can VPN to a Server 2003, but not Server 2008

Windows XP can VPN to Server 2003, AND the Server 2008 via PPTP.

The only issue is that Windows 7 VPN cannot VPN to Server 2008.

Has anyone experienced this yet?
Thx!
Matt

I've never had problems with VPN from Win7 to SBS 2008..

Are you testing this remotely, or on the same LAN as the SBS2008?
I usually test on the same LAN to ensure the network path is not the problem.

Hi,

I believe I have turned off IP6. Should I turn it off on the
server as well as the client?

I am talking about the built-in Windows VPN client. I am
trying this from my home office (different subnet) to my
work..but I can try it from the office location tomorrow.

Thx for the replies!

For the person that got it working -- you didnt have to change
any of the authentication? I have that 2008 NetworkPR thing
installed which holds policies..do you as well?

Thx!
Matt

Some networking issues I have on server 2008 has been fixed by simply turning IPv6 off then back on again, it's bizarre. Generally I would leave it on though.

Why leave it on if your not on a v6 network?
