Winlogon Repair (WinXP ONLY! )
Another small utility that can help you to repair Windows especially when infected by the VIRUT-virus...
Step 1) Run "Quick check and Repair" ( after booting customer's PC in Safe-Mode )
Step 2 Reboot PC and boot from a live-cd
Step 3) Run "Repair Winlogon Files"
Step 4) ReBoot pc in normal/safe-mode and continue cleaning your pc with antivirus software....
WHAT THIS UTILITY DOES --->
1) It looks in the registry and fixes your winlogon entry
2) It resets your .exe's to opperate correctly ( good when infected by Rogueware )
3) From the live-cd, it will replace your userinit, explorer and winlogon.exe files ( the main files used to log on, so have a XP-CD at hand, as the program will ask for it. If the guy only have ONE cd-drive, put the "i386"-directory on a flash-drive and guide Winlogon as such...)
4) It "resets" the SHELL
5) It also fixes the "autorun-bug" after running Combofix. This means, you can now use your fav "autorun-fixer" to repair autorun, ( Usually after running combofix, even using microsoft's autorun-fixer, your autorun could still be faulty...this will fix it )
Please read the HELP-file...
