A Serious Evasive Problem

New stuff

Thank you for insight into the sound card.
The timings on my ram are set properly, voltage is now set manually and correctly.
When i replaced my graphics card I uninstalled all the old drivers. Plus I have installed anew multiple times.

This morning... my computer was constantly rebooting.
I turned it off and unplugged it and waited until the mobo uncharged. I plugged it back in and I am not still getting BSOD 1/4th of the way through the Windows is Loading screen. The BSOD is fast and I can't see the letters... I should have turned off auto restart on blue screen but I forgot to.

Now the stupid thing won't boot. I really believe its the motherboard. Personally I feel this rules out RAM. I did another ram scan while it was in this state and it came up 100% (I am only running 1 2GB stick).

So... I am going to break down and order a new mobo. I will be doing research on this to determine which one to buy to replace it. I want a good one but I don't want to pay too much. If you recomend any particular model/brand that is compatible feel free to private message me with suggestions.

trouble shooting

I let it reboot multiple times and read really really fast.

A) my graphics have switched back to 800x600.. so my video drivers seem to be corrupted (probably due to failed windows starts)
B) The stop error was 0x00000050
I found this at http://aumha.org/a/stop.htm
search for 0x00000050

I moved my 1 stick of ram to slot 1 and no change.

PS: I am on my new netbook atm.

You realize that pressing F8 during startup offers a menu that allows choosing the option to Disable Automatic Restart as you mentioned forgetting to set while in Windows...

Yes

I did not know this. I tried to but it looks like my Windows install has been corrupted now.

"Windows Boot Manager"
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:...
File: \$Windows.~BT\Windows\system32\winload.exe
Status 0xc000000f
The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt.

I am going to boot to a live CD or this Hiren's Boot Disk. Primarily to extract some important files I need now.

The problem has to be either the RAM the HD or the motherboard. I think it may be the mobo.

I am looking at the ASUS P5N-D LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 750i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard.

I don't think it is RAM because I have done scans and pulled ram with no changes. I don't believe it is HD as this hard drive gives me no reason to suspect it. I did a 48 hour spin-rite scan with 100% awesome results as well as the WD diagnostics utility. There are no sounds from the HD either.

Good news and bad news

Well... Here is the virdict.
I currently can't get a signal from my graphics card.

All I Have is my graphics card and my processor and 1 stick of ram. No display anymore.
RAM leds are moving which often means they are in use.

So, it's either the mobo, processor or graphics card.
I doubt it is ram as bad ram wouldn't cause the post boot to not appear. I am going to try to dig up a PCI-E graphics card but the only one I have is probably broken... worth a shot to see if it could at least show me a post boot (artifacts or not).

Testing

Got out my old 8800GT that had artifacts and makes a constant loud squeek noise. Not the perfect test graphics card but in theory I should still get a boot of some sort with artifacts.
I got nothing. Seems that my motherboard isn't outputting any signal whatsoever.

This could be caused by either the motherboard going bad or the CPU going bad. I hope it is the motherboard and not the CPU, I like my Q6600. Plus I have never overclocked it or overheated my CPU so I don't see why it would die on me.

I am going to replace the mobo (as was suggested was the cause of the problem previously) and hope it works.

Back up

Here is what happened:
I was trying to get video back on the screen... Had my 275 geforce and processor and 1 stick of ram. I even tried No ram...
Nothing worked
I then held down CMOS reset jumper button but this didn't correct the issue...

I then swapped out the stick for a different one and I got video!
I put back in the old stick thinking it must be bad and video is still there!

I don't know if this makes that stick bad or what...
Could it be the motherboard still?

I am doing a Check on my C drive to see if that can correct the corruption of windows...

I hope I can get this fixed soon...

Blue screen tells me this is the error I got:

I ordered a hard drive but I am still researching the best motherboard to choose from. I want one with an Intel chipset this time because the 650 chipset was horrible for overclocking. The Intel chipset (45 I think) seems to be much better with my processor. Part of me is afraid to replace the motherboard because if the problem persists then I would have waisted 150 to 250 dollars.

What do you think the drivers NTFS.sys and umbus.sys point to as the problem? I have pretty much ruled out ram...

Thanks for any help; I know I am pretty long winded I am just trying to be thorough.

Your issues are so randomly changing I would lean towards a motherboard issue at this point, wish you lived nearby cause I have an Asus that was $300 that is new and unused still since I just skipped building the 775 and dropped a couple grand on an i7 instead around March of 09. Def interested to see what comes of this though.

If it were me, I'd do the following:

1 reset BIOS to default configuration
2 install 2 sticks of dual-channel DDR2 RAM that runs on 1.8 volts*
3 reinstall OS

If that didn't work, I'd replace the motherboard. Or give up already.

Last Ditch Before Buying A New Mobo

I ordered and retrieved a New WD FALS 1TB hard drive.
My original booting AAKS hard drive is not plugged in at all. Just two TB drives...

I reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate x64 bit.
If I get a BS now I am going to replace the mobo...
If I don't then it was a faulty HD all along.

The giving up advice is tempting... If I had the loose change to just build a new i7 I would do it. Only thing I would salvage would be the HD's and graphics card though. and the case if I wanted (but I would probably buy the new Antec case (the upgraded antec 900)...

I'll just cross my fingers and hope things go well.

Solved

Looks like I may have solved the problem by perchasing a new harddrive.
Even though WD Utilities told me the harddrive was working great and there were no audible or visible signs of damage, I am 85% sure that it was a hard drive error.

I have had 0 Blue screens since my last install.
I have yet to extract any data from my old drive. It is not plugged up in any way.

Thank you all for the assistance in this matter... I am surprised that it was the hard drive.

If the problem does occur again i will be posting but I think that this case is closed.

Again,
Thank you all
