bob's computer service

Bob, it looks 100x better already. It's now officially better than my site :) The colour scheme is a little hard on the eyes, though. Mostly the darker blue on the left and this graphic:

I was going to link to your own logo graphic but it's huge! "690px × 651px (scaled to 250px × 200px)"
Resize your graphics. It wastes bandwidth and increases loading times. Looks like most of your graphics are resized, not much, but still. If they're the right size/shape to begin with, there's also less chance of a browser showing them wrong.
(Edit: I saved that logo to my system: 655kb. That's enormous for a logo. I resized it to 250x and reduced the DPI to 75 and that brought it down to a more-reasonable 55kb)

Almost missed this:
GET A PHONE NUMBER ON THAT PAGE! Worth repeating:
GET A PHONE NUMBER ON THAT PAGE! Add a clickable email link, too (or something if you're worried about spam). I'd rather deal with spam than no contact, though.

Calm down the top graphics and get your contact information where people will see it as soon as the page loads. Might be worth shortening them (top banners) a bit, too, as they're pretty big. If you've got stuff to put in that much space, fine, but they come across as filler right now.

PM sent to OP
Not sure why the rest of us need to know that. Doesn't the "P" in "PM" mean "private"?

Just to be clear, I was suggesting something more like:

Either prune down or use all that space in the banner ... or both.

I'd also suggest setting up a user-friendlier email than "sysop".

Rather than making your visitors type in a new URL, how about setting up a redirect to your new site?

Hi Bob,

First off I want to commend you for the amount of work that you have put into your site but I must agree with the others to outsource it.

Second I noticed that you have on your site that bulk time does not expire, I have seen this blow up for other solo techs. We had a tech a while back that made this same statement and he was involved in an accident that took him out of commission for over six months and he ended up getting sued over it. I was also advised not to do stuff like this by an accountant because it shows as a liability on your books. in other words its not really your money till the service has been performed, So if you go out of business you have to pay it back!

To get around this issue I rely on Service level agreements, They are month to month paid contracts Plus it encourages my clients to call me for the small things before they become big things :)

I hope this did not come across as being crass That is not my intent !!!!

Good Luck to you

Boy was i suprised to see this as the most recent ad thread. I have changed my site a few times since this. This is when i first joined technibble \. I would like to think i have learned something since then.

Thanks everyone for this great community.

Hey admins, how about deleting old treads on Advertising and Marketing that is over 3 months old. If the feature is not available, how about another moderator who's main job is to delete old post?
