Fab's AutoBackup 7 Pro - a must have tool for techs

Is it possible to have the Fabs update process re-open the main program immediately after the update completes? I invariably close the browser folder from where I started the program and have to go searching for the program once the update is completed. Obviously a trivial nuisance but it would be helpful to have it re-start the program after the update. Thanks for all that you do, @fabs!

This is something that can be done in a next release. I just have to change the updater so it restarts the new version after update. That's not a big deal and it makes things simpler ;)

It is still there:

Hi Fabrice - I have not been able to get FABS 7 Pro to show this yet - in any release. Help!

Weird, I have the prompt each time I try it. Perhaps you need to uncheck the recheck the box. There was an issue with it in the first release that had it.
Just check the box, then hit the "launch" button on the main app. Then it will list all the files and calculate the required size and show it in a message prompt.

I have put an update version if the updates online. At next update, you will get it and the update after this one, you will see the requested feature in action. You can also get it by running the previous Fab’s AutoBackup release if you still have it, then update it.
This updated reloads Fab’s AutoBackup once you have clicked the "Exit" button after it has downloaded updates.

Excellent, but was no big deal as I usually run Fabs from WRT, so when it didn't open after updating I just clicked the entry in WRT (Custom Tools section) and voilà...

Hi, I am looking for some smart tricks about Fab's AutoBackup for my speech at the Chicago ITO Compass!
I would like to know what's your most smart and unusual Fab's AutoBackup use if you mind to share some tips.

is it possible to have a setting/checkbox/switch to turn off "Loading last session"?
Or maybe a checkbox to "Do Not Remember Previous Sessions" so they don't load in future?

Thanks.

I was thinking about an option in the config file. Just to not add another option/check box on the GUI.
I guess this request comes from the additional folders selections that last from a job to another right?
Then, I could add an option like "DoNotSaveSettings" (if you want another name for this variable, it's time!) that could be set to 1 in this case

Whatever you gotta do. I personally don't like having my settings saved between jobs as they're never the same anyway.

Settings like the backupfolder's location and its naming pattern can last. The other settings that can be really disturbing when dealing with different jobs every time are stuff like additional files and folders. Files and folders exclusions can be included in this process of "discard all the settings" as well.
I am looking at it. Perhaps I will have enough time to release something before taking off to the US!

I don't know about other technicians, but I never restore to the same backup folder. Drive letters change and I like making my own folder names. It's nothing but an annoyance to me.

Well, that's not so hard to change when starting a new backup job. And you can set the folder to whatever you want by selecting an option in the pattern sub menu. If none of those is good for you, you can even set your own. It is not looking that bad IMHO

Tip about drive letter: if you backup to the drive where Fab's AutoBackup executable is, you will not have to specify it on next job since it will use a %AutoBackupDrive% variable. This way, no need to manually change the drive letter, it just follows.

"Do Not Remember Previous Sessions" would do it.

Work is started. Anyway, I have a quick "fix" for this: once you have provided your order information and set your branding at first start, close the program and set the config file to read only. This way, you get a fresh start every time [emoji6]
