(Needed a 3000uf cap. Only had 1000uf. Put 3 in parallel to get close enough to 3000uf. Nice).
Nothing actually wrong with doing that, assuming it's done neatly and professionally (and the capacitors used exceed the minimum voltage rating and ESR). I've created similar looking bodges myself many times, but only during development or diagnostic steps. For the final fix I would normally source the correct capacitor. But if the correct capacitor is not readily available or the repair is urgent, I'll join a few capacitors together neatly to form an insulated capacitor 'pack'.
 
Got this in my email today and got a chuckle out of it. There's been references on the forum to a colloquial term we use here in the USA - pizza tech. As in the pizza delivery kid who does computer repair between deliveries.
