Today I helped someone hide dead bodies.

In the break room...

Me: Ralph, how is it going?
Ralph: Good. Just dealing with dead bodies!
Me: Dead bodies?
Ralph: Yeah, there are a lot of deceased in a certain database table.
Me: Oh. If you want, I can write you a query to help you hide the bodies. ;-)

*helped hide bodies in plain site* and it's not even lunch!

I just added to the WHERE clause Deceased=false

On the theme of old "stuff" I do work for a company that has a contract with AT&T residential POTS. Had a call for no dial tone. The PoC mentioned this phone on the second floor. I honestly didn't think it would work as many places in the US stopped supporting rotary. Surprise, it worked.

Ha - for a second there I thought that was a whiskey bottle and some prescription meds behind that phone!

We had those exact phones growing up - on a party line, no less. I've always appreciated the pace of technological innovation I've witnessed in my life. Oddly, when we had those phones, I don't remember ever thinking "boy, I wish there was a faster way to dial!" haha.

When I was a kid, our phone looked like this. It didn't have a rotary dial; you spoke to an operator and gave her the name or number of the party you wanted to talk to and she connected you by plugging a line into a patch-panel.. It was on a party line along with another neighbour or two.
