Not really a joke but the internet is fast where I was installing a new computer today. Decided it would be quicker to drive the hour back to the office and back again to install.

People, including myself, often forget that almost all of these things that normally use an online installer stub also have offline installers. I try to keep "the current set" of same for things I frequently install as part of "my usual setup procedure."

About 15 years ago I was setting up a Macmini server in a lawyers office. They had a barely functional DSL line. Seem to remember it was 8-900kb down. The really sad part is I couldn't do anything about it since my neighborhood still had no cable Internet, dialup was the only option. The update from his office took almost 3 days

South Australia Police confirmed to Yahoo News Australia the adverts are tactically placed for their target audience.

"Advertisements are placed in mediums most likely to expose the content to the target audience," they said.

"The campaign is designed to educate drug users about the period of time after using drugs, that drugs can be detected in a person’s system."
