"We were Gods..."

...Now we work for multinational corporations on an unpaid basis, clicking on little coloured buttons like trained monkeys, providing every detail imaginable about our lives.
We freely give them everything, our medical history, every picture we take, every message, monetary transaction etc, etc, under the guise of "Oh we have a Privacy Policy" and your data is safe with us....

How many millions do we generate for these companies?

That's no laughing matter!

Back in the day, I was one of those guys with 200 phone numbers in my head. I could dial a touchtone phone like a madman (just like running a 10-key adding machine, but upside down). Now, I think I've only got 3 numbers memorized...mine, my wife's, and for some reason, my phone number when I was 6 - can't get rid of that one. Now get off my lawn!

my phone number when I was 6 - can't get rid of that one.

I doubt that any of us can get rid of "our phone number" that we had to memorize as children. I often wonder who has what was ours now, as all numbers get recycled after having been "out of circulation" for a period of time (and I used to work for AT&T, and I'm surprised I don't remember how long that is).

I will go to my grave knowing the first phone number I ever had to memorize and several more after that.
