Integrate Multiple Antivirus Rescue Disk into One Single Disc or USB Flash Drive

Thanks for this link.

I notice the author also refers to the Trinity Rescue Disk, which can also do this, but only on CD, not flashdrive.

Trinity is also the only system that has never failed to recover a screwed login/password for me.

I've not decide if add Trinity Rescue Disk.
For work in a flashdrive the label be TRK_3-3 , as the cd, and the USB works

I just tried SARDU and when I click the "Crea USB Avviabile" button it works away but eventually gives me a message in Italian I don't understand. Using Baylon to translate leaves me pwerplexed. the message is "Se non hai ancora inserirto il supporto sul scrivere SARDU collegalo". The SARDU forum is completely in Italian, so no help there.

Anyone understand what the problem is, or get it to work? It's such a promissing tool, it's a shame the forum and the program ae not available in English.

Edit: Disregard the above. I persevered and it's writing the files to my flash drive as I write this. Will update this to let you know how it worked.

Yes. My earlier error was because I hadn't formatted the flash drive first. Then I formatted it FAT without noticing, so had to reformat in FAT32 (after consulting the Babylon translator). Then I clicked the Create ISO button and it seemed to finish but then seemed to restart from the beginning. I just killed the job. The files appear to be on the flash drive (cursory look) but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. Will do so shortly.

Do you just click create usb? Is that all there is to it?

You have to run the program first, clicking on each item you want to put on the disk. Some of the items dl as ISO's, some are zip or exe files and you have to deal with them. You put all the ISO images in the ISO folder.

Stop and restart the program, and you should see check marks by the items you dl'ed. Make sure your flash drive has enough space in it, then click create USB. It takes a while.

The menu didn't work for me so I need to try it again tomorrow.

Sardu extraxt all file needed from isos and put it in the folder sardu\ISO\isolinux. Then with mkisofs make the ISO and put it in the folder sardu\ISO_CREATA

Creata in italian's language = maked

Hi parsifal,

I just posted a message on the raymond.cc site under the name John. I have built the flash drive but the menu doesn't work correctly, tested on 2 different systems. It seems to scroll past or overwrite itself incorrectly. Sometimes I can see a blue block but it's only on the upper part of the screen.

However, I figured out that I can hit ESC to get a boot: prompt. Then I can manually start up some of the menus, like "vesamenu.c32 append /linux.cfg". Then, once the linux menu shows up, I can select Puppy Linux or back up to the main menu.

Not everything then shows in the menu though. I don't see the Antivirus menu option, and it doesn't work from the boot: menu either. But I have 4 AV iso's downloaded and they appear to be on the drive.

Any ideas?

Hi Parsifal. Thanks for your reply. when I tried to boot the USB flash drive, I got a blank menu and a prompt for a password??? The files are in sardu\ISO\isolinux but I can't find a folder sardu\ISO_CREATA, probably I killed the job too soon. I'll download the English version and try again. I asume it will find all the files downloaded earlier and just run mkisofs. The files in isolinux are also on the flash drive, so I'm confused about the iso that mkisofs is going to build, as there is very little room left on the flash drive (a 2GB drive). Anyway, I'll try again. I assume I should reformat the flash drive before trying again?

Edit: Disregard the question and confusion about the ISO. I never tried to create the ISO, just the USB version.

Larry, yes just do a quick format on the flash drive.

I've dl'ed the new version and it's better, but the initial menu is still goofed up. I'll look at it again when I get a chance.

The workaround is to press ESC, and then you'll get a "boot:" menu. Then enter the command "vesamenu.c32 append /menu/XXXX.cfg" where XXXX is one of the .cfg files in the isolinux/menu folder on the flash drive, such as linux.cfg or antivirus.cfg. This will start up that sub-menu, or at least it does for me, and then you can go back and navigate the menus properly. Not sure why it won't start up correctly the first time.

Thanks for the quick reply, but I think I'll wait for the menu to be fixed. :) I don't think I'd remember "vesamenu.c32 append /menu/XXXX.cfg" nor what the sub-menu choices are, but maybe it's worth the effort. I'll try it out again.
