I current have my own Asterisk PBX with a SIP trunk, had it for years and years. Aastra desk phone with wireless headset makes fielding calls and remote work a breeze. My phone system also forwards to my cell when I am out of the office so that I have the option of accepting a call on the road instead of having my customer go to voicemail all the time. I'm a one-man-band now and really don't need an actual phone system anymore.

Recently, I've been wanting to simplify things though... if you can call it simplification.

My wife is a blogger and does reviews of stuff. We get tons of things from Jabra, and they have two products that have brought this idea into my head:
http://www.jabra.com/Products/Wireless_Headsets/Jabra_MOTION_UC_Series/Jabra_MOTION_OFFICE
http://www.jabra.com/Products/Wireless_Headsets/Jabra_PRO__9400_Series/Jabra_PRO_9465_Duo

Both of these are sweet, but I'll let her blog do the review in due time, I just wanted to give a back drop as to what/why I am wanting what I am wanting and don't want to come off as a shill here. :)

Anyhow, what I am looking for is a virtual phone number (of sorts). I don't want to port my business line to my cell, instead I want some "cloud" solution where when a customer calls, it hits a time condition. If my office is open it goes to my cell. If not, it hits a voicemail box. Plain and simple. I know I can do this with a virtual PBX solution (or my current one) using a SIP trunk and the like. But really all I am seeking is a company to do call forwarding and voicemail only... similar to Google Voice I guess.

I know lots of you use all sorts of phone solutions. So to be perfectly honest, I thought I'd be lazy and croudsource instead of doing the legwork myself on this.

Anyone know of a company that provides what I am looking for?
Or should I just get off my lazy butt and look it up myself? :/

..snipped...

Google voice can do this. Why not use it?

I use Voipfone in the UK. They provide a virtual PBX etc.

It basically rings out on all until answered/not answered. @taketimeout also receives the calls depending on reception etc.

They do recommend an extension per device so things don't go crazy. I'm guessing you could do the same?

The future of GV has always been... questionable.
There's no SLA, no support to speak of, and in my opinion it's just not a business class service.

I've found a few while searching that seem to fit the bill though, waiting to see if anyone else is using something I have not found yet.

I get that.

But really, if all you're looking for is scheduled voicemail it either works or it doesn't. Been using GV for years now with no significant outage or glitches. I forward several of my numbers to it and always figured if Google takes it down or it stops working I'd just redirect those numbers to a new service with customers none-the-wiser. In the meantime, it works & it's free.

That's true.
Funny thing is, my current SIP trunk DIDs were once GV numbers. I started out using GV and then ported them to a PBX in 2011 after a couple of years.
Would seem odd porting them back.
Actually.... I think GV only allows the porting of Cell numbers into GV.
I'll have to look that up.
