We have a 27" 2017 iMac here, We need a mic for it.
it was sent to a board repairer and they were unable to repair it, so it came back to us, it sat here for a few months whilst the customer/we decided what was going to happen to it.
eventually we got around to replacing the board and whilst testing we discovered the microphone (which sits in the bottom of the chassis) is completely missing.

We had absolutely no reason to remove it, I spoke with the repairer and he said the same and is adamant that he hasn't touched it, he doesn't have it there with him either.
Now bear in mind when this came back to us he sent it back with the wrong CPU and the wrong RAM (1 stick of DDR3 and 1 stick of DDR4), he sent me another stick of DDR4, but it doesn't match the first, but does at least work.
So I am fairly convinced he removed the Mic and lost that as well.

That being said I need to source the mic, the only place I can find with it listed (UK) is the bookyard, at around £60, but thats out of stock anyway.
Any of you guys have any sources for mac parts ?
I would normally find one on ebay etc but I am getting nothing :(

Do you have a part number? Occasionally Apple actually uses the same part across years and models so you might find it that way. @overburnz is an AASP if I remember correctly. Maybe he can provide the part number.

If it's a standard ECM, you can measure the mounting area to find what size ECM you need. It will be ECM if the connector is 2 pin. You can carefully solder two wires from the connector to the mic, and a little hot glue should keep the mic in place, one of the few times hot glue is a perfect medium.

The only thing is you need to find out which pin is ground, you can prove for that.
