mac deleted file data recovery

I have not tried recovery of deleted files from a mac. Assuming the space has not been rewritten, is there software that will recover file names and folder structure(more than a raw recovery) that you have had good luck with?

DR5 by prosofteng.com is a great tool. But you can't mix OS's so to speak. So if you want to recover OS X you have to buy the OS X version and run it on a Mac. Used it once did a pretty decent job. But my favorite is still R-Studio which is also preferred by many DR tech's. One platform for all OS patients. Just remember that unless you purchase a tech license you have to have the customer pay for a license to stay within the EULA

The way the mac file system works with deleted files, it is unlikely that you will get anything more than a RAW recovery.

Which one of them? APFS, as I read about it, is copy-on-write, which normally improves recovery quality.

I haven't played with deleted file recovery from APFS yet. It is possible that it might be an improvement, but Apple usually makes things worse, not better for recovery.

Have you tried disk drill?

In short - Disk Drill is another garbage program that tries to say that they are a professional program. It is so bad, I have 100 licenses that I can sell or give away and I feel it is so bad, I don't even have a clear conscience to give them away.

I'm a big fan of stellar phoenix, however almost all of them today will let you run a scan and then pay if it can recover files

Yes. Great program but again drive can’t be encrypted.
