Not realated to taxes or anything, but I have a Mini Cooper S.
I love it! Awesome gas mileage, just sporty enough for me, and I really like having a hatchback.
The very first day I had it, I had to haul three towers, three monitors and two high-end scanners...it was a tight fit and I thought it was the sign of things to come, but really it's been a great car for my purposes.

Love the Mini, used to have one of the first ones, built March 1960

I have a Chevy Trailblazer LT edition and love it. I have hauled tons of crap, computers, monitors, 3 office moves, etc.

I am not sure how I will deduct this year, probably miles over gas because I traveled each week 300 miles to my 2nd office and back. Better deduction.

I just started so I don't have many customers yet, but most of them are within 5 miles of my house so I take the trendy electric car. Urr I mean Golf Cart. :p

Other than that it is the 1990 Honda civic. Blue like all the other ones, still very good on gas, reliable, but the AC broke down and I hope to get a new car before the Summer starts.

I'm leaning towards a Ford Fiesta, but considering a VW Golf TDI, or Hyundai Elantra.

I don't think I would need anything larger than a compact Hatchback, What do you guys think?

I just picked up a 1999 Isuzu VehiCROSS Ironman Edition, I'm super happy with it I get about 20mpg. I dont care much for the price of gas, but dam its a nice car. I will post pictures in a bit, went offroading and I havent cleaned it up yet.

I use the wifes Pug 307 Estate Diesel. She drives close to 250 miles a week, back and forth to work. I know a full tank used to cost £53 4 years ago when we bought the car, now its over £70. We get around 600 miles out of the tank.

I only do my call outs on mon and fri. So dont do too many miles. For tax purposes, I claim for mileage.

My Panda I've had since new

Costs £128 a month for the loan but it is insurance group 1 and the insurance is far cheaper than any banger would be to insure.

It is great for traveling around Manchester but with a 1.1 54bhp engine it is not the fastest thing in the world!

For you Americans it is what the FIAT 500 and Ford Ka (new shape) is based on and I believe you're getting a new Chevvy based on the Panda platform too. James May also has one.

I do about 3500-4000 miles a year in it, nearly all business use.

Is it really more expensive in the UK for gas?

In the U.S.A. we are paying under $4 per gallon of gas.

How many quid are you blokes paying per litre of petrol?

I wonder if you convert liters to gallons, USD to GBP, petrol to gas:D, and kilometers to miles... who is really getting the better deal in distance traveled per unit of money?

The US is getting a better deal. There's no shortage of information about it. (And, granted...most of the cost difference is in taxes...but it still factors into it.)

I get 600 miles to the tank in my VW Transporter, but it costs over £100 to fill at today's prices. But I can use it for camping, taking the bike to ride in new and interesting places, and on occasion taking cable installation gear to site. Once did a computer move for a customer, but it was a bit dodgy getting insurance for their kit, so I don't think I'll do it again.

Magnetic signs are fine on the back, not too sure they'll stay on the front on the motorway though.

so is anyone in the UK paying for their car thru their business, or is it best just to claim the mileage against tax?

I just started up my business 8 months ago and my accountant said to claim for the whole vehicle on the business and he will work out the private mileage use payment. I initially said to him do I claim 40p a mile and he said no as I wouldn't make much on it.
