Member vehicle thread

I've never been one for taking pics of my vehicles but here's my work car, the red one, parked next to a client.
The opportunity that day was too much to pass up.

Mine is a 94
His is a 2010

Ooooooh! A car thread! :)

Just spotted this thread linked from the Member Picture Thread.

Well I don't do mug shots, so here's a few pictures of my rather unconventional IT Support mode of transport.

Who remembers the car chase in Ronin?

I bought this beast about 4 years ago now. She's a late 2002 Audi S8 (Final Edition; one of a handful of the very last D2s ever made). At 4.2 Litres, it's not the most economical way to get to jobs, admittedly, but it's an absolute dream to drive ... and fast as hell.

If you spot one of these in your rear-view mirror, coming up quickly behind you on the M60, please get out of the way! ... because it'll probably on be me on my way to an urgent call-out. :D

To the petrol-heads like me: These are just awesome cars. If you've never driven one, you should. Depreciation from new is staggering, meaning used ones are an absolute bargain and you get so much for your money.

Despite being a large car, with electric everything, all the toys and double-glazed windows, they have an all-aluminium (aka aluminum) body, making them relatively lightweight. The result is a 0-60 of a little over 5 seconds and, thanks to the Quattro AWD system, grip and handling that defies gravity. Super-car performance with the waft and luxury of a Limo. :)

This is what I'm driving these days.

VERY nice gunslinger!

How many computers can you get in the boot/trunk? :)

... and more importantly, how does she perform?

Next time your around the m60 moltuae, drop round mate. I'm 5 miles from j 11. Obviously when your off on a call out lol

Will do. Make me brew and I'll let you have a spin in the car :)

J11 ... that's the Trafford side, yeah? Most of my trips are M60 East unfortunately, but I do occasionally have the need to venture west.

0-60 in 5 seconds, Quarter mile 13.4

Those are almost identical figures to my S8. I haven't timed my car's performance specifically, but I believe the quarter mile time of the late D2 S8's is around 13.4/13.5.

Shame you're on the other side of the pond; would've been great to have a drag race with you.

@Coffee

Looks neat. Doesn't look like anything we have over here. What is it?

Yep it's the Trafford side. I'm more than willing to make a brew, or have a pint with any fellow techy. :)

Call on round, welcome anytime :)

2008 Buick Lucerne

It doesnt have it from a standing stop but it will really fly once you get a bit moving. Came with a 3800 engine. Kinda sucks the gas.

Had someone think they could blow me away last week with their foreign car. I just shoved the pedal half way down and left him in the dust :)

Its more of a luxury car but I like the add-ons that came with it
- Automatic tinting rearview mirror.
- Leather bucket seats
- Auto adjusting seats with memory
- Auto side mirrors - They auto adjust even for parallel parking.
- Butt warmers, Steering wheel warmer, Outside mirror warmers...

If I could keep up with gunslinger to about 40 and punch it I might have a chance but I doubt it. :)

I'm a sucker for the creature comforts too. Mine has all those, and even an electrically adjustable steering wheel. Of course all these things add weight, meaning you need more horses to pull 'em along if you wanna get anywhere quickly.

The thing is once you've had high performance or a high level of luxury, you just can't go back. I started my driving years driving a 1200cc car (I won't tell you what!) and with each change of vehicle I got more performance and more luxury. I've gone from a pathetic 1200cc vehicle in which having a radio was considered a luxury option, to pulling a palace around with a 4200cc V8 and almost 400 horses. There's a price to pay though; 20mpg at UK pump prices eating into my profit. It's still not enough to make me give it up though (I'd rather just work harder) .... in fact, if I ever have to get rid of my current car, I've been contemplating moving up to a 5200cc or 6000cc engine next time!

I might have the slowest car of all of you. Might have something to do with the fact it weighs 5700 pounds. Our daily drivers are much more prudent...

Wow! Looks amazing though!

Now that's what I call a boot (trunk)! ..... I bet you can get a few PCs in there!

That'd be no good over here though; too many small roads and tight corners, not to mention tiny parking spaces ... I often struggle to find a space large enough to fit my S8!
