Hey all!
I am having a Quickbooks issue at a new client. I will try to be as concise as possible.
- Two new installs of QB Pro 2015 (2 user license)
- Installed the hosted QB option on the computer hosting the QB files
- Installed standard install QB on client computer
- Ran QB file doctor on hosted computer, sees the files, added, no issues
- Hosting computer can open QB files fine
- Client computer can ONLY open QB files if QB is running on the hosted computer
- If QB is NOT running on the hosting computer, the client computer errors out attempting to open said files with the following errors: 1) Hosting mode is off 2) It also gives some errors about not being able to track to IP address 198.105.254.23 - which makes no sense, because the computers on a subnet of 192.168.0.x 3) it also mentions that MS Security Essentials is installed (which it is, dealing with that maybe sooner than later) and could be blocking access). It asks me to run QB file doctor on the hosting computer - which, again, I have done with no errors.
All of which makes no sense to me that it would all work fine IF QB is running on the host computer. I have talked with two QB gurus (not knowing so much about QB myself) and they all say that the client computer should be able to access the QB files without the hosting computer running QB at the time.
Let the brain power begin!
