Untangle Licensing

Yup...unlimited.
Now...if you purchase a license, say for a max of 25 users...and you have say..a dozen users, with multiple devices per user you can find yourself over the limit in a hurry!

Which is why it's good to break out things like guest networks...and you can go bypass that network. Bypass rules will have devices bypass the gauntlet of Untangle apps sniffing the packets....and won't count.

If Untangle has devices go over its licensed amount...they simply bypass the "paid apps"...

I think at one place where I'm tight on license....I have their guest wifi go to a different VLAN via the Ubiquiti Unifi stack..and exit the switch going to a dedicated ethernet interface on Untangle..who separate network..and I have a separate policy with just the free apps on that.

Good idea to bypass a guest network. I'm installing one using the free apps at a church. They have about 60 endpoints, 2 servers, about 30 Unifi cameras, as well as IP phones, and guest access. Of course, they have no money for any subscriptions at this point, but I can get them a firewall and an IPS to start.
