I am using Acronis version true image home 2011. I am trying to do a recovery on a system and I see the backup files in the backup directory. When I try to select one it gives me a specify location of version x message. I used browse to get to the root of the backup list. Now it won't show me other files in the main backup folder and it won't let me get to the increments. How do I solve this problem?

Hello,

I use Acronis 2011 quite frequently.

How ever, could you please provide a little more info and/or answer the following questions?

You are trying to restore an image....correct, or is it a backup of data?

Where is the image/backup located...USB, DVD, Secure Zone, etc.?

Was the image/backup verified when it was created and did it pass?

Can you run a verification on it now and see if it passes.

Have you looked through the logs when it was created for any errors?

Are you trying to restore from "within Windows" or from the bootable CD?

Have you checked the disk containing the image/backup to make sure it is functioning without error?

I'm sure I'll have more questions, but this may get us started.

Please answer and I'll try to see if I can help.

I suspect he's trying to restore a backup/image created using another version of the software.

Nice one acronis :(

c> How do I run a verification? How do I specify the file to verify?

Have you looked through the logs when it was created for any errors?

c> No, but I'll look

Are you trying to access the data from the main page as below.

That is where you would verify the image/backup, mount, explore, etc.

Go to the main page.

Top left.

Operations.

Drop down list.

Sorry to leave you hanging, but I must go out on a call.

I'll check back in this evening and try to give some assistance.

I double clicked on the copied backup set and it listed the directory that was copied. I copied the file under the windows explorer and it came up. The data is there. It just won't come up under Acronis.

I got online chat with Acronis and the guy went to the backup directory on the usb drive and he right clicked and selected Archive and then mount and that cleaned it up. It's not clear to me what caused the problem initially but the restore function is working again.

He also said to validate from time to time.

Sorry to take so long to get back to you.

We had a "freak" snow squall stall over our area and lost power for several hours this evening. Forecast called for 1-3 inches, we ended up with about 8-10 inches of wet heavy snow that brought down a line near our area.

Glad to hear that it worked out for you.

I always verify images and backups, take a little bit longer, but helps avoid problems down the road.
