Fab's AutoBackup 6 Pro - a must have tool for techs

I am officially a new owner of Fab's Autobackup 6 Pro!

I have only "tinkered" with it a tiny bit as I just purchased about 10 min ago but
it seems like it will be pretty snappy. If I only use it personally it will be worth the
money, but any future nuke and paves, or hard drive replacements will greatly
benefit from this tool.

Seems like there are a few little bells and whistles that really make this better than
the old fashioned way I used to do it. Especially with how easily it moves things like
user profiles and the like.

... Especially with how easily it moves things like user profiles and the like.

I've been a user since the early days and it's saved me a TON of time. But the addition of the Transfer function was the icing on the cake, so to speak. It makes it easy to create a new user profile to try to bypass a problem, or simply change the user's internal profile name. Doing it by hand was always a chore.

Sweet deal on the discount coupon! Quick question though.

I am a "one man band" that really only does this stuff on the side.

I'm looking at buying, but want to be sure if I really need the "pro" version or not.

I will be the only one using it, but could possibly be using it on any of the machines I happen to work on.
It could be 15, 20 or more in a single year or it could be fewer. Does the non pro license allow me to use this
on any machine I like, so long as I am the only one who uses it?

Also, what are the functional differences between the PRO and non PRO versions?

Thanks!
You can use a non pro from a USB drive or a network share and use it from there. Pro version can handle more than one user profile at once (only the current logged in user profile for the non pro) for backup / transfers, pulled hard drives attached to an healthy machine are also handled by it, it can make direct transfers from pulled drives to the local one, etc...
If pro version is really not affordable for you even if there is a discount, then go for a non pro but you can feel a bit limited with it as it is designed for the end user and not for techs.

Add me to the camp of people that thought you had this tool already. But you will love it. Always a staple in my tool kit. Especially for Nuke and Pave's.

Hi,
a new Fab's AutoBackup 6 has just been released :

Change log for V6.3.3.27235:

Fixed :
- Pro version only:
In restore mode, when there was a C:\Windows.old folder on the hard drive, the only user profiles shown were from this old install. Those from current install were not listed and restore was not working.
- Minor issue with a double & shown in exports like printers list and installed software when the program was branded with a & in the company name.

Cheers

I've paid for very little, if any of the "tools" that I use to do the little tech work that I do.

Normally that means I either do things by hand, the long way or use freeware. This seems
like, if it even speeds up one or two jobs, will be worth the money. I'm sure I'll use a few
times per year easily, and it will be WELL worth the cost!

Hi Guys and Gals,
I have just released an update for Fab's AutoBackup 6 (V6.4.1.27241). It fixes a sticky notes file restored at a wrong location. There is two ways to get this version: Use the updater utility by clicking the link advising to update in the app or grab the full package from your orders history on the online shop. For people who do not have it (yet), it is an easy to use data backup/restore/migration tool for PCs running Microsoft Windows from XP to the latest WIndows 10. Look at http://www.fpnet.fr/?page=ab6propresentation&lang=en . There is also a trial version available. Just have a look

Hi guys quick question for you and fabs (we will see who will be faster ;) ) i'm single tech and i'm wondering it Fab's AutoBackup 6 Single license link: http://store.fpnet.fr/product_info.php?products_id=39 same like Fab's pro version only offcourse only for one tech. It is important for that i can backup data from nonbooting systems and i'm not sure that Single license Fab's can do that.

Sorry for bad english and thank you in advnace.

Hi,
this version is not the same since it does not support anything else be current user profile on current system drive.
To do what you want to do, you definitely need the Pro version

Regarding to fab's AutoBackup 6, the Pro version has these extra features :

- Multiple user profiles handling at a time (no need to log on with an account, make the backup, log out, log on with another account, make the backup, ...)

- Other hard drives than the current system drive can be selected. This feature allows data backup from damaged computer that would not start the usual way.

- Direct users data transfer from the old hard drive (slaved or USB mounted) to the new computer. If needed, you can create users accounts directly from the program's interface before performing the transfer.

The license has no number of users or number of computers limit. In other words, all the technicians in a company can use the same license on an unlimited amount of computers.

You will wonder how you could work without it!

Just buy the Pro version and you will be very happy with it!

Another vote for buying the pro version here too.

Not only will you wonder how you ever coped without it, you will be helping Fabrice with future and further developments in what is an amazing program.

I used this on site for a small site upgrade of five pcs. It's still awesome. More than anything it's the peace of mind knowing that it will pick up everything I need and that I haven't forgotten to check this or that was selected. Best piece of software we own I think.

Someone send me a discount coupon. :)

Firstly, I'm sure there's a please meant to be in this sentence somewhere..

Secondly, you don't need a discount coupon. Fabs pro is a brilliant program. It saves you time which equals money each and every time you use the program.

You will (I hope) be charging your clients for backups, so will recoup the little money it costs within the first couple of times you use it.

Plus as I mentioned previously. Buying the professional version of this software helps both Fabrice, but the technical community as a whole.

@Cadishead Computers it was meant to be a joke, hence the :) at the end. I will be buying the program soon. And yes, it is a great bit of kit and I am sure I will make my investment back the 1st time I use it. The only thing that I would prefer at the price point is branding. Also, when you open the program, you get 2 buttons in the center of a big dialog box. Would be nice if it was smaller and when you click a button, the box expands. My OCD on design gets me at times.
