If ever the US were to ditch Daylight Saving Time, I sure hope that what we'd choose to stay on permanently is what we are on when Daylight Saving Time is in effect. I wouldn't miss, "Spring Forward, Fall Back," at all.

But, as a salty distant relative used to say, "Wish in one hand, sh*t in the other, and see which gets full first!"
I disagree with switch to DST permanently I prefer to move to Standard permanently like Arizona, Hawaii, and I think a city or 2 somewhere already do. Which makes me wonder why all the legislation to stop switching as it seems we have cases which don't so why can't we all stop the same way they do by not observing the made up DST and moving to Standard which is what those states and actually a majority of the world uses. I think moving in step with the world majority makes more sense than moving to one that is primarily used by the USA.

Which is why that's not going to happen.

I don't get your logic about "made up" DST. We are not the only nation with DST, and time zones are "made up" when it comes down to it.

My preference for the DST setting becoming permanent is that if I'm going to have "extra light" (which isn't really extra, it's position during the clock day is) I'd far rather have it later in the day than early in the morning. Others will feel differently, but were we to do away with DST, one "side" or the other is going to lose what they would have preferred.

But I'll be in the ground long before there is any probability of any change to how things work in regard to time in the majority of the USA.
