I've seen desktops like this in the past and wondered what was wrong with the operators! Then I suggest folders to store "like items" in!

This makes me cringe every time I see it. I'm a minimalist when it comes to my desktop. I don't understand how people can do that.

OMG, Larry. As long as you know where everything is, then you are set.

My Windowz 7 desktop looked very much like that but since I'm on Linux Mint now I only have 4 icons on the desktop. Almost looks nekkid compared to what it once looked like.

It's a Mac so what did you expect

For your linux desktop take a large zip file and do this: unzip filename.zip > /home/~USER/Desktop

That should fill it up nicely - lol..

Make of computer doesn't really matter. I've seen desktop PC's (winderz) and laptops alike with issues like the one shown by @coffee.
