Yeh the option for £ instead of $ would be a great start! Also some words are spelt different in UK English as opposed to American English. Labour and Labor, Cheque and Check for instance. That's not an issue if it's just being used internally, but if reports are being given to customers then it needs to be right! If it is something you went ahead with I'd be happy to assist with translation to UK English although there probably isn't that much that needs adjusting!

This is completely custom from the ground up, not based on any other project. It started as just a POS system that uses authorize net for the CC processor, and 6 months later added the repair portion. I have been tweaking it ever since, using it everyday for the last 3 years.

Even better! I am getting ready to open shop and want this program is possible.
I see enough interest that I will work on getting it ready. I want to impliment as many of the suggestions here as possible before releasing the first version. As it stands now, you need a webserver with php and mysql and optionally the convert command from imagemajic if you want to be able to automatically insert images in the POS system and the repair icons in the repair system. The install is basically just copy 2 folders of 20 total php files to the server and install the database schema. There are two text files to edit where you enter your business name, logo files names, address, phone number, website address and database credentials. You also need to modify a htaccess file that points to your htpasswd file and of course create a users in the htpasswd file. And finally you need to set permissions on the 2 directories that images are stored in.

Would I need a dedicated server for this or could this easily be added to any company's website hosted for the internet (like those on 1and1 or godaddy)?
! If the plans were not made for this type of install options can this be considered?
Will detailed documentation be available with the purchase of this software?

If documentation on how to setup the POS for this software could be available that would be helpful as well.
Do you know about how much you are thinking of charging? Will it be a monthly/yearly fee or will it be a one time (lifetime) charge.

You should be able to run it on any existing site that has support for mysql and php. Most of the use of it is straight forward, but I would definitely put up a website for it with some FAQs about some of the stuff that isn't as straight forward. Probably I am gonna charge $100 a copy as a one time charge with free upgrades for 1 year. I will also offer to install it for you as well.

Right now I have it on my list to add support for a config setting for a monetary symbol, And to add a generic credit card check out option for those that have their own systems in place and don't want to mess with it. The system has a authorize.net and skipjack plugin, but I suspect most people won't want to pay for a SSL certificate and a payment gateway like auth.net
I also need to make add a variable for setting the sales tax rate. Does anyone have to charge taxes on services separate from sales tax?
But I would like to get as many of these feature requests done before I release the first version. So, those of you that said you would need small changes, PM me so I can look into them.

Count me in. I would love to purchase this software for myself to.. Any chance you can do a video demoing the program basic features. Played with the demo you had but i think it would be great if you posted like a 5 min video on youtube about the cool features.
