My Store and Repair Tracking System

Question for you Stro: Can clients check the status of their repair using a restricted version of it? It would prevent a lot of clients calling asking if machines are ready. Just a thought.

Edit: pushing my luck here as well :) If you complete a job & say move it from status of WIP to finished, if a cell/mobile number is included text the customer to say it's finished?

It would be very easy to create a single page script that shows the status of a PC.

It is a feature I have thought about before, but never implemented it because I think people would want more than just a yes or no, they want to know how it is coming, which with a online script, unless you update it every few hours, would not be very informative to the customer.

We always relish the chance to talk to a customer, it is face to face and verbal communication that build a reputation and relationship with a customer.

The sms text message thing would be very possible, problem is, you would also have to ask them what their carrier is everytime to know where to send it.

Congrats on the release. I'd also like to know what's involved with in the installation.

I do see where you're coming from. I had thought about status items like - queued, on Tech's bench, ready for collection. If you were to have a tech update it just before taking lunch, immediately after finishing a job & also just before leaving for the day I think it could work.

Ah ok, we wouldn't have that restraint over here. :)

Congrats on the release. I'd also like to know what's involved with in the installation.

You would copy three folders of files to a website, edit a text file with your dbname, and password, and business details, create a database at your host, import the db schema, login and run.

I also need to make add a variable for setting the sales tax rate. Does anyone have to charge taxes on services separate from sales tax?

I have to deal with 4 different tax agencies and 3 different tax rates, because I go onsite to 3 different tax jurisdictions. Also, in the state of Alabama, parts only have tax charged. There is no tax on labor.

checkout question

In checkout the printable Bill / quote does not include the customer information, or am I missing a step?

Are there any plans for adding a calendar option, say for scheduling calls for clients?
More questions coming. I'm really considering this.
Ok, so under POS/Manage Stock Categories, i figure that when you click a link for a product, you'd be able to change the number of items in stock. Instead, it just takes you to the template, without any stock or categories, or anything to edit. I'd show you what I mean, but it should be easy enough to replicate.

WOW you released the software. Great... I think that I might have to get this for myself.. :) Sweet...

manderso: Q1 - Definately possible, will add to todo list. Q2- Should be 3 links for restocking, editing the item, and adding it to current cart.

itmgr: It has a text box where you can type the name and address, I am working on a feature on the repair side that will appear next to the check out buttons that would create an invoice that pulls their info automatically.

I also haved it planned and in the database schema for sales/service tax per receipt, but will take time to implement. For now, 1 systemwide tax rate on goods only.

Is there a way to import current clients?

Is there a way to export data to other software?

Could you add sync with QuickBooks?

Thanks for the clarification and update. 1 more question: will it be possible eventually to email a copy of the invoice (paid and/or unpaid) to the customer?

ExtraLean - the info is all stored in a MySQL database, so it would be possible to create a CSV for import/export with other systems, but I honestly have no plans to implement it or quickbooks support.

manderso - emailing receipts would be a feature that could be added.

Just purchased and waiting for my files.... I loved the idea of this from the first post! Waiting and hoping to get it set up this weekend.

I have to say I am excited to start using this app to help keep me and my employee organized better. It seems great and I cant wait to implement it in to my business.

I bought the app but the only thing that is preventing me from using it is the fact that I cant charge sales tax on labor with it.

Can you make it so its optional to tax labor (items on the "Quick Labor" list could have a check box that makes them taxable yes/no).

Thanks!
