I use Acronis newest version but for some reason it is no longer compatible what other hard drive image is compatible with VMware?.
Most of my clients also use acronis but it is not compatible either unless there is a converter its going to be alot of work.
Acronis 2010 does not work version 8,9 do and 2011 guess ill have to get customers that have 2010 to upgrade.

Anyone know of a good guide for converting a hard drive image to a virtual machine , need to get a win95 installation virtualized.
My software guy is on vacation i have only used vmware for virus testing ect.

Re:

Never used VirtualBox. I definitely used VMWARE a lot (not a guru though), and played around with Virtual PC and XP mode in Windows 7 Pro.

I am still to see Hyper-V (Microsoft), which is a great competitor for VMWARE, but a few good years behind VMWARE (this I heard, but need to form my own opinion :) ).

Re:

Galdorf, I would use the CD instead of the live conversion or attach it USB externally to the PC running the P2V client. The machine needs to be offline, it's best this way. BSODs are pretty common when you do stuff like.
With servers and DCs, SQL servers, Exchange, etc, you need to be super careful.
Good luck!

I used the free converter i had to dig in my closet for old copy of norton ghost and install it since acronis home 2010+ is not compatible i thought 2011 was i was wrong.
I guess ill have to buy acronis backup and restore i don't do work with workstations so i never needed it most of the businesses i do work for don't have servers.
One taxi company i did work for was using a pentium 1 and backing up to same floppy for 18 years lol.
