Windows Repair Toolbox

This is actually pretty good. I think I'll be using this quite often from now on. The automated malware removal and quick access to such useful tools is great. Is there any way to get a version with all the tools already downloaded so you don't have to download them all the time? It's rare but sometimes you don't have good internet access so downloading is a pain.

Thanks!

sapphirescales, that would be a good addiction. But unfortunately it would require me lots time that i don't have, not only to create and maintain a that separate program, but particularly to keep it updated.

Thanks!

You wouldn't have to constantly update it yourself. Allow the user to click on an update button every once in a while and it will download a new version. I use a LOT of old outdated software. My version of GsmartControl is like 3 years out of date but it still detects SMART values just like the new version so I haven't bothered upgrading the versions on all my flash drives yet. I'm sure a lot of techs do this too. You don't need the newest versions of every program if it's not causing you problems and it's portable so you don't run into any security issues.

Speaking on gSmartControl. I have had this issue happen a couple times on some machines. The short test runs just fine, but the extended test starts and then 15 secs later resets. I have tried multiple times on each machine and same problem.

Not sure if it this version or what? Can anyone clarify?

Even though, it will have to be a separate program, with very code in common but also with many different and new. And i will have to replicate, adapt and test the changes i made in the principal project, in that separate project... it's a good idea, but for the moment, i don't want to dive into it. There're still functionalities that i want to add to the current project, bugs to find and correct along the way, etc.

Can you replicate the issue I am having with gSmartcontrol? Would like to know if it is just me? This is coming up on every computer I have tested it with lately.

Sure, i'll test it when i get home and i'll post back.

I tested it in my laptop and Sort Sefl-Test executed successfully. The Extended Self-Test was running fine during several minutes, but meanwhile fell asleep when when i woke up this morning the computer was in hibernation and i had the message of "Test aborted: Device open failed, or did not return an identify device structure" I'll try out again and let you know.

Is there a function that clears out the Event logs, maybe with one click ? I like to blow them out right before I start and then at the end after I finish and before giving it back to the customer. I can it manually but it would be nice.

One button blow out logs. One button open Event Viewer.

Also D7 had a couple of nice features as tweaks:
1) Auto end tasks on shutdown
2) Disable AutoReboot on BSOD & Enable minidumps.
Really would like that in here, unless I missed it.

There's no button to clear event logs with one click.

I'll add those to my suggestions list! Thanks

I'm a bit late to the party in finding/using/experimenting with this tool.

I'm pretty impressed with it so far, however.

Generally, if that collection of malware tools doesn't suspend (Roguekiller/Rkill) and then find/clear (JRT/AdwCleaner, hitmanPro, MBAM!) a malware issue, many are likely reformatting anyway in the interests of time constraints. (The tool does, of course, require the PC in question to have a functioning internet connection, however; perhaps a user configurable switch/settings option to either download latest versions from internet (as is current), or, for systems lacking internet due to malware or Windows issues, allow steering/pointing the tool to a USB flash drive or CD/DVD?

In any event, a simple but vast array of widely used tools! Well done!

Thanks, i'm glad you find it useful!

At this point i'm not planning to create an offline version of the tool, but that's something i might look into in the future.

Hi cypress,

Yes, i'm currently working in the next version!

I've been quite busy the last couple of months, so I've been only updating the download links.

But now that i have some more free time in my hands, i'm back to work on a new version of the program.

As always, bug reports/suggestions are very much welcome!

Hi all,

since i'm currently working in a new version of the program, i would like to ask you guys / gals for your for help regarding software to add, remove or replace in Windows Repair Toolbox!

Is there any free tool or resource that you're using in your everyday (or at least very frequently), that is missing from Windows Repair Toolbox? (If for some reason you don't want to post here, please send me a PM).

Is there any tool that you think that i should remove or replace?

Is there any quality assurance test you perform after repairing a computer, that i could add to the "Final Tests" tab?

Thanks in advance!

1 vote for possible inclusion of FreeFixer in to the current list of Malware Removal, under manual tools....(ZHP Cleaner is gaining a bit of popularity as well)

With ComboFix still inop under Win8.1/10, I almost question it's inclusion these days....

This is a very impressive array of tools as is, to be sure!
