Windows Repair Toolbox

This has become a trusted member of my "team". Nice work!

Not sure if this is necessary, but I find myself using IOBit Uninstaller over Recuva more and more.

1 vote for possible inclusion of FreeFixer in to the current list of Malware Removal, under manual tools....(ZHP Cleaner is gaining a bit of popularity as well)

With ComboFix still inop under Win8.1/10, I almost question it's inclusion these days....

This is a very impressive array of tools as is, to be sure!

@MDD1963

Thanks for your suggestions!

I'll definitely try to add FreeFixer. Great tool. Intuitive to use, scans a lot of locations, allow access to online information regarding unknown detected items, and to Virus Total as well. Looks like Hijack This, but more evolved. It's compatible with 2000/XP/2003/2008/Vista/7/8/8.1/10, both 32- and 64-bit, and it's been around for some years.

About ZHP Cleaner i'll not add it for the moment, since there are already several good programs in the toolbox covering the same. Anyway thanks for making me aware of this tool.

Regarding IOBit Uninstaller, i know that there are many people that won't touch IOBIT software. That, and the fact that the toolbox already includes Geek Uninstaller, makes me not wanting to include it. About Recuva (i think you meant to say "IOBit Uninstaller and Recuva" instead of "IOBit Uninstaller over Recuva"?) it's already included in the toolbox, in the tab "Tools", under "Backup&Recovery section".

I'd like to ask that you remove Slimware Driver Utility, and replace it with Snappy Driver Installer

http://snappy-driver-installer.sourceforge.net/en/index.php

Thanks for your suggestion! except for the testings i just did, i have no experience with SDI. But the fact that the feedback here in Technibble regarding Snappy Driver Installer is no less than excellent, and that the tool is portable, makes the decision for the inclusion a easy one.

I'll try to add it alongside with Slimdrivers (i also like a lot of this tool and i think it's nice to have more than 1 option in this regard). Maybe a button named "Drivers Updade", that will offer the option to run one or another tool.

Hi guys,

i'd just like to give you a heads up regarding the "Vipre Rescue" button, under the "Malware Removal" section: it isn't currently working, and that it won't work either if selected to run during the unattended fix process. Unfortunately in this case i'll not be able to fix it by simply updating the download link, so it will have to wait till the next version of the program. I would also like to apologize for the delay in releasing a new version of WRT (i already have it partially written, and would love to finish, test and release it, but unfortunately i'm between jobs atm and need to dedicate my time and attention to other priority stuff - it sucks).

I've just noticed that Bitdefender (and therefore other antivirus that are using Bitdefender's engine, such as Emsisoft, GData, eScan, F-Secure, etc) is detecting Windows Repair Toolbox as malware:"Gen:Variant.Kazy.765526". That's a false positive. I already reported it to Bitdefender, and i'm now waiting for the resolution.

As a side effect, if "Mbam/a2cmd" button is selected to run during the unattended fix, Windows Repair Toolbox executable gets removed. However this won't cause any trouble to the process (besides the inconvenience of having to reinstall Windows Repair Toolbox afterwards), since the removal only happens at reboot, after the unattended fix is already finished.

Thanks.

Now Windows Defender/MSE are also detecting Windows Repair Toolbox, but only if the "Cloud-based Protection" is turned on. I already reported the FP. I'm sorry for any inconvenient.

Hi,

i would like to share with you guys / gals this little software I've just finished to write called Windows Repair Toolbox. It's basically a tool that:
- allow to quickly download and run some commonly used software when approaching a damaged Windows system;
- displays some relevant information about the computer (CPU temperature, name and % of use; amount of RAM installed on the system and % of use; amount of free space left in C:\ partition; Windows edition and install date)
- allow to perform some quality assurance tests;
- allow to run some automated functions.

It can be downloaded here: http://windows-repair-toolbox.blogspot.com/

It's still beta, and it should work with all Windows versions between XP and 8.1.
.Net Framework 4 is required.

Disclaimer: i'm not a professional programmer! I'm just a guy who likes to learn, but i'll try to keep up with this project...

Interesting. I just tried downloading the program. The "Smart Screen Filter" tags the primary download as "Unsafe". The alternate location, though, does download. The portable version is also tagged as "Unsafe".

Thanks for your feedback. I've just tested and got the following:

When using Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer 11:
- All download links, including the alternative, are blocked. But in all cases it's given the option to ignore and continue downloading.

(I've just reported the download as safe to the Microsoft SmartScreen Filter Support. But maybe all that happens is that they will change the warning from "unsafe" to "not commonly downloaded and could be dangerous").

When using Google Chrome:
- No problems with the normal download links.
- With the alternative download link i got the warning: "Windows_Repair_Toolbox_setup.exe is not commonly downloaded and could be dangerous.", but it's given the option to ignore and continue downloading.

When i try to execute any of the files, i don't get any warning from Windows Smart Screen.
Microsoft already fixed the false positive problem with Windows Defender and MSE, and, although i still haven't received a email confirming, Bitdefender apparently already fixed it too.

Virus Total reports:

Hi all,

it's now available a new version of Windows Repair Toolbox (Version 1.1.0.0). In this version I've tried to update the set of tools (thank you all for the suggestions), improve the compatibility of the software with Windows 10, and implement several fixes and improvements.

Here's a print:

wrt_1.jpg

Overview of whats changed:

- Windows Repair Toolbox will no longer minimize to the system tray;

- The stop button Webcam test will now reset the image back to blank. Improved Microphone Test buttons management;

- The green and red CPU temperature indicators will now load faster;

- The instructions of use of the email settings are now more visible;

- Implemented a functionality to prevent the start of a new downloads before the previous are completed;

- Fixed Vipre download;

- Fixed a bug that would create a file in Windows Repair Toolbox folder that couldn’t be removed before a reboot;

- Extraction of almost all zip files is now performed in a separated thread, in order to improve performance;

- The notes are now automatically saved, and not only when the application is closed.

- Replaced Nirsoft.PWD (package of all Nirsoft Password Recovery Tools), Nirsoft.SYS (package of all Nirsoft System Tools) and AppCrashView with NirLauncher;

- Replaced Slimdrivers with Snappy Drivers Installer;

- Replaced Unlocker with GrantPerms;

- Added Don’t Sleep;

- Added GWX Control;

- Replaced PatchMyPC with sUMO;

- Replaced Active Partition Manager with Minitool Partition Wizard;

- Removed link to Microsoft FixIt;

- Added Complete Internet Repair;

- Added FixWin 10;

- Added FreeFixer;

- Added Emsisoft Emergency Kit

- Removed from Final Tests: Silverlight and Shockwave

- Added to Final Tests: .ZIP and CrowdInspect;

- Several others improvements and fixes.

Please let me know of bugs you might find so i can fix them, and also about your suggestions to improve the program. Thanks!

I was able to try this out on a couple machines yesterday, I really like the update. Never heard of sUMO before. Is it really better than PatchMyPC?

I was also wondering about the change to sUMO. I've never had any problems with PatchMyPC.

I also like PatchMyPC. I've just changed because in Windows 10 machines i get a prompt to install .NET Framework 3.5 to be able to run it. SUMo scans more software but doesn´t offer automated updating. I can easily return to PatchMyPC, what do you guys think? thanks

I am going to give sUMO a shot today, when I launched the program last night I didn't know about this thread I just assumed the program was updated because it had a lot of the programs we had talked about. I do think PatchMyPC should be on there regardless though.

Hi all,

i've just released version 1.2.0.0 of Windows Repair Toolbox

- Added: if the buttons "CompIntRepair" (Complete Internet Repair) or "NetRepairAIO" (NetAdapter Repair All In One) are clicked but there's no internet connection to perform the downloads, Windows Repair Toolbox will offer to attempt to repair the connection.

- Added "PatchMyPC" back to the toolbox (replacing sUMO).

- Improvements in the processing of Emsisoft during the unattended fix process.

- Several other minor improvements and fixes.

All feedback is welcome. Thanks!

Hello all,

i would like to let you guys now about some current issues in Windows Repair Toolbox:

The most relevant is that due to recent changes in Bleeping Computer website, some of the downloads are not working at the moment. I'm working so that within a few hours i'll be able to release a definitions update that will fix the problem (basically i'll be hosting myself those files temporarily until the release of the next version of WRT). Affected downloads are: GrantPerms, Minitool Partition Wizard, Farbar Service Scanner, Farbar Recovery Scan Tool, Rkill, AdwCleaner, Defraggler.

Other issues are:
- Combofix download is not working at the moment .
- FixWin download is not working on Windows 8.1.
- Services Repair download is unavailable at the moment, because it's been removed from the ESET server.
- If selected to run during the unattended fix process, Windows Repair AIO will stop in it's repair nº 7 under 32 bits versions of Windows.

All of the issues mentioned above (except for the Eset's Services Repair situation) are already fixed in the upcoming version of WRT, in which i'm working right now.

Sorry all for the inconvenience!
