Fab's AutoBackup 6 Pro - a must have tool for techs

Hi,
a new Fab's AutoBackup 6 Pro has just been released :
Version : 6.2.1.26112
Date : 14/07/2015
Fixed :
-There were copy failures when backing up to a drive's root in command line mode.

This update is strongly recommended if you are using the command line mode with the standard (not pro) version too.

Hi,
a new Fab's AutoBackup 6 Pro has just been released :
Version : 6.2.2.26190
Date : 10/23/2015
Added :
- Exports the installed software on 32bit and 64 bit systems. At restore, a check-list in html format is stored on the desktop. This one can be printed and checked while reinstalling the user's programs.
- Button to terminate (kill) processes preventing Fab's AutoBackup from doing its job (IE: backing up Google Chrome profile while chrome.exe is running in background). Use this feature with caution.

@fabs, Fabrice, when using any version, if the program skips a file
e.g.
ERROR 2015-10-19 - 11:38:34 : USER : Copy failed. Skipping to next file
WARNING 2015-10-19 - 11:38:34 : USER : Copy error on file "H:\Users\User\Documents\xxxxx.docx" to "\\DISKSTATION\Client Backups\New folder (3)\2015-10-19-USER\Archive\Documents\xxxx.docx" (0 byte), is this because the file was empty, or is it a case of impending drive failure?

Cheers

Empty files should not be a problem. Failing drives or corrupted file systems may cause this kind of message.

Thanks Fabrice, I was thinking it would be drive damage. Just wanted a 2nd opinion from the expert.. ie you :)

A backup I did the other day, has very close to 4,000 of these errors.

Obviously, the client has no other form of backup. Is a script writer (tv shows), and keeps banging on about how much an episode of this show costs.

Well if its that expensive, then you should have an alternative means of backup. Not just relying on a single drive.

And all this is apparently my fault, as I informed him that I have backed everything up. Well I have, what I can back up.

I attempted a sector clone, which failed literally immediately. So the drive is basically a gonner.

Just wanted to post a huge THANK YOU to Fabrice...this program is absolutely invaluable and is a steal at three times the price.
If you are a computer tech & don't have this program, you are wasting so much time....Fabs AutoBackup has made workstation migrations SO much smoother...love the new feature, just yesterday I did a migration & used CCLeaner to export a list of installed programs....won't need to do that any longer!

Yes, relaying on a single drive is a bit dangerous :/
I cannot imagine losing my program sources.
I have backups almost everywhere I can using nas and some cloud services

The new feature will be improved in the next release with the various urls shown in the windows programs uninstaller. That can be helpful to reach editors websites to download installers.

I've tried hd clone Larry. To be honest, am yet to install ddrescue.

It's to a point with this client (I dont want to go into to much here), even in non google eyes, but to just throw this clients 2 laptops at him, rip the invoice in half, and wish him well, as I kick his ass out of the door!

I will pass Seans number over to him. If its that important. As theres very very little more I can do.

With this particular client I'm to blame for his emails not coming over from aol/wlm. WLM won't install on his other machine. That's my fault.
He NEEDS ALL of his emails. all 14k+ of them. All from Aoheck.

He NEEDS all of his files for a very very important court case.

Well again, if its this important, you don't rely on a single place for storage!. Plain and simple. Should stand to reason.

I'm at my wits end with this guy..

Thanks!

Wow, yes that will be an invaluable feature! Where is this program list saved, currently?
Thanks

The list is stored in the "InstalledSoftwareList" subfolder in the backup folder

Hi, there was a problem with installed printers and installed software list export feature. It is fixed now.

Software : Fab's AutoBackup 6 Pro
Version : 6.2.2.26202
Date : 10/25/2015
Added : About and support urls are added to the exported software list when they are available
Changed/Fixed : The installed printers and installed software lists were not exported in every case

This is a really great new feature – thank you!

Would it be possible to include the machine identification and Windows information (version, SP level, 32/64-bit), as well as the backup date, on the html report, please? At the moment, there is nothing to distinguish between reports, which can lead to confusion.

Work already started ;)

Any chance you could output mail passwords and product keys? I run nirsoft's mailpv and produkey with each data transfer. If this was built in... that would be lovely.
No way for mail passwords. MailPV does not work off line, so, that will not be added. Produkey is already supported. I am surprised that you have not seen it: it is in the "public data" tab.
