Windows Repair Toolbox

@AlexCa ok, strange thing. Versions correct. I decided just to have a look in WRT's folder and PatchMyPC (updated) is there. However, trying to download it, it just hangs in the app. Nevertheless, it does download to the correct folder. Weird

What happens if you try to double-click it directly inside the PatchMyPC folder?

It works perfectly

@cyde_ePhex
I imagine that if you now open WRT and click the PatchMyPC button it will ask you if you want to download a new copy.
If you press "No", it will run PatchMyPC.
If you press "Yes", it will try to download it a few times, until it gives you the error "Several attempts to download this file have failed."

Is this what is happening?

This is exactly what is happening. Also just checked with SDI Origin. Same thing, except SDI is not in the downloads folder

It seems that you're using an older version of WRT (or maybe you have extracted the new version to the older version folder). I say this because there was an older version of WRT in which SDIO would create files outside the Downloads folder, but that's no longer the case.
When WRT tries to re-download, it's because the file downloaded doesn't match the size of the file that's in the website. So maybe the media is somehow corrupted, or maybe the AV is interfering?

Can you please try to download the portable version from here, and run it from its own folder: https://windows-repair-toolbox.com/
If that doesn't work can you try to run it from a different disk/pendrive? Can you also please try with the AV disabled (i remembered you had problems downloading/running CrystalDiskInfo that got solved when you whitelisted the process).

Sure, I'll try but I am sure I checked the version of WRT yesterday and it was the current version. I'll double check. I don't think I am having another AV issue, as I was able to download and run PCDecrapifier and Revo just to make sure. I'll post back later. Thank you

Hi all, I've just released version 2.0.0.1 of WRT. Here's what's changed:

- Added: extra information about the system drive, namely the "Power-On Time" and the "Power-On Count". Quickly accessible through the tooltip:

drive.jpg

- Added: information about the Computer manufacturer, model and serial number, as provided by the SMBIOS. I found this useful for when providing remote support and to check the computer warranty. Also quickly accessible through a tooltip added to the "OS" label:

- Fixed: users in China (are there any?:D) would always get the information of "Internet connection status is: OFF".

- Replaced "Treesize" with "WizTree", after reading about people using it in the Software you keep on a USB thread. It's indeed a faster solution. However, after using this program, make sure to go to "Options" > and uncheck "Windows Explorer context menu", or by default a "WizTree" entry is added to the windows explorer context menu. That entry will stay there after Wiztree is deleted or, for instance, if the pendrive where the program exists is removed. So, at that point, clicking on that entry will return an error. I reported this to the developer and he replied saying that he will change that default in the next update.

- Replaced "FarbarSS" and "TCPView" with "BlueScreenView" and "AppCrashView". I did it because I find these two tools really useful and susceptible to be used in a large majority of cases (to check for recent bluescreens and application crashes, in conjunction with the Event Viewer and Reliability Monitor). Although they are already included in the "NirLauncher" package, I find it more practical to have those two particular tools together and more accessible, as they are now.

- Changed: when clicking the "Clear Downloads" or the "Reset to Defaults" button, the questions whether to also delete the added and downloaded custom tools or not, and whether to reset the "custom.xml" file or not, are now shown with a red warning icon (beside having "NO" as the default answer), in order to help out the quick shooters :)

- A few other internal and minor changes.

As always, your feedback is welcome.

Thank you!

Just for giggles I thought I would time how long it took me to update to the latest version.
23 seconds, including download time! :D

Click to open WRT, asks if I want to download newest version, click yes, go to website, download Portable Version, drag .zip to Windows Repair Toolbox Folder, click on .zip file, Shift + A to overwrite all, click WRT opens, done!

BTW, I keep Treesize and a couple of others in my "Custom Tools List." Always good to have options. :)

Hey @AlexCa I'm trying to download and run Macrorit from the GUI of WRT, but after it downloads I get a very brief flash of the program trying to open then an error:

Not being stopped by my AV (Emsisoft) because direct download from the Macrorit website (portable version) works perfectly.

Hey Greg, the download is working fine here - although I noticed that's a bit slower than usual. Can you try it again (maybe it was some temporary occurrence)?

Hey @TechPJC , thank you for the tip, I'll give it a look :)
I just put this .cmd file in my "Custom Tools" section. Just double click to run.
There's a whole bunch of options available, not just for Windows Update.
Run SFC scans, reset Winsock, check image integrity, clean temp files, and many more.
The option to "Change invalid entries in the Windows registry" does nothing more than backup the registry?
Looks like a useful addition overall.Shot 1.png

BTW, the author of WizTree released today an update (WizTree 3.11) that, among other things, fixed the context menu thing in the portable version.

Hi guys, I've released yesterday version 2.0.0.2 of Windows Repair Toolbox.

The main change was in the “Uninstallers” section, where I added a functionality called “AVLeftovers”, and the compilation “AV Uninstall Tools Pack”. The programs “Eset AV Remover” (that is already included in the compilation mentioned above) and “Decrapifier” were removed.

The “AVLeftovers” helps to identify what Antivirus programs may have been previously installed on a computer that you’re working on, so that you can run the respective manual uninstaller before installing another Antivirus of your choice, or when trying to solve some problem potentially caused by an incomplete uninstall of a previous security solution.

It works by simply searching for directories in the system drive (with some exclusions) whose name contains the name of several security solutions (the same that are present in the “AV Uninstall Tools Pack”). The results are presented in a TreeView, and under the node containing the detection are shown the full paths. False positives are possible so it’s advised check the paths. Example below (after uninstalling Avast and McAfee through Control Panel and rebooting the computer):

I was under the impression that Eset Av Remover would do this, but it doesn’t, so I decided to add it myself to WRT. While testing another software, I installed and removed successively five different Antivirus (Avast, AVG, Avira, McAfee and Norton). I then run Eset AV remover and it indicated that there we’re no leftovers found, while there were plenty (directories and drivers left by the regular uninstallers). My guess is that it will probably only detect in the case of a seriously broken uninstall.

The “AV Uninstall Tools Pack” is a collection of the official tools for removing more than 40 security programs. It has about 250MB and it’s updated on a monthly basis. The interface by default is in Russian, but there’s an option on the main window to change it to English.

As always, your feedback is welcome.

Thank you!
