Windows Repair Toolbox

@Barcelona
Hey Greg, are you still getting the same error? The download seems to be working fine here. However for some reason that download sometimes gives an error. Usually it's temporary. I'll probably be changing the download link to MajorGeeks.

Anyway, you should at least, go to the "Settings" tab and click "Clear Downloads" and then click "Update All" (to re-download everything once again). When asked if you also want to delete the downloaded custom tools, you can answer "No". This is to make sure that that everything works as intended regarding the management of downloads. The changes made to this version will surely cause troubles if the "Downloads" folder of older versions is kept.

@MDD1963
That's because Smartmontools, that I'm using to get those attributes, still have limited support when it comes to NVMe drives. It can't retrieve information about that drive. Just to make sure, try to run GSmartControl. It should give you "Unknown model".

Very nice indeed - Thanks!

I have put this on my USB stick and will certainly use it, I used to have D7ll but I'll be honest I found it too clunky. One thing I am looking for is the ability to put an HTML or PDF-based report together of whats been found (hard disk errors, viri, corrupt files), it's always a nice thing to hand to a client/customer to prove what has been done. Should include PC name date/time too.

But this tool is great if it could add some form of reporting that would be even better!! :)

Keep up the excellent work!

PS: Thank god you removed Slim Driver and replaced it with SDIO!!

Hey, thank you! That's a good suggestion, I'll keep it in mind.

Yes, I think it was an excellent trade. SDIO is awesome :)

Although, to be fair, when i used SlimDrivers years ago, based solo on my observation and experience, it performed fine. I used to install the free version and uninstall it afterwards. That's reason I included it in the first versions of WRT.

Same as you, I used to use SlimDrivers religiously - it just worked! Nowadays, I use SDIO as Slim seems to be full of spyware now.

I've just released version 3.0.0.1 of WRT. It fixes a bug in the "WirelessKeyView" download, in the "Notes" tab. I'm sorry for the successive update. Thank you!

@Emsisoft Please, please, PLEASE, submit Nirsoft Tools/Suite to Emsisoft for inclusion as a false positive!
Getting tired of having to remove it/them from quarantine all the time!
Thank you :)

Hmmmmmm just running this on a remote machine, tried to run unattended RKill etc, WRT has disappeared and the wrt.exe has disappeared from the machine - all on its own!

Presuming that isn't meant to happen...?

I've just tested it in a VM and neither RKill or Defender are deleting the program. The most that Rkill would do would be to terminate the process, but it wouldn't delete the .exe. Maybe BitDefender deleted the program without sending it to quarantine?

Maybe, the dontsleep.exe was still running so it didnt delete the directory. Must have been BD.

Version 3.0.0.2 is available for download:

- Fixed: under some circumstances an error message relative to "WirelessKeyView" was still displayed after the "Update All" process was completed.

- Changed the DDU download (in the "Uninstallers" section), in order to adapt to the changes made in the packaging of that program in its latest version (17.0.8.5).

Thank you.

I didn't know there was an Update All button! Found it, clicked it. Now it's frantically downloading updates.

Request: Can you put somewhere on the screen where it's up to in the Download All process? ie what Application it's currently downloading.

Oh, it just changed tabs. Is that expected?

Perhaps on the group box that contains the progress bar, update the label where it says "Download and Run" put the current download in brackets: "Download and Run (Kaspersky)" or just a hyphen: "Download and Run - Emsisoft".

And the equivalent on the other tabs.

I'm guessing/hoping it's not really going to Download and Run after clicking the Download All button. Just a download will be fine! ;)

Still, a huge red window, "Windows has protected your PC!" whenever installing WRT...

Seems as though Defender will never give WRT a break! :( (Treating it as though it were Ammyy!)

Hey @glennd , thank you for the suggestion, that's a good idea. I'll try to display that information also on the label. Currently you can only check what is the download in progress by observing the buttons (they became grayed out, in sequential order, while the respective download is in progress).

@MDD1963 , thank you for the heads up! Unless I'm not getting the most recent virus definitions, I think that Windows Defender is no longer detecting WRT. If possible, can you please update and try again? Thank you.

These are the Defender virus definitions that are shown in my computer:

I'm currently going through the process of obtaining a code signing certificate (through ksoftware.net, that I've saw mentioned in this other thread), hopefully that will help with the false positives.

Hey @AlexCa is it possible to be able to right click tools in the Custom Tools list and "Run As Administrator?"
Some of my custom tools will only work this way.
I have gotten round it (for some tools) by running WRT as Admin initially.
Thanks

Strange, afaik and tested, all apps or programs inherit privileges from WRT. I wonder which tools you run actually don't inherit privileges.
