Windows Repair Toolbox

Kudos Alex for this tool. Just started using it and it has nearly everything that was "rattling around" in my personal toolbox. Well done.

One suggestion. I dumped TDSS Killer in favor of MBAR a few years back and think that it is a better tool. I would welcome opinions from the crowd.

I've been away from this board for a while and glad to be back.

Thanks! I've ended up deciding to use TDSS Killer because Malwarebytes also includes rootkit detection (https://forums.malwarebytes.org/topic/170229-anti-root-kit-beta/), and because TDSS Killer allows automation. Anyway, hopefully, i'll be able to include an option that allows people to add tools to WRT.

I'd love to see a couple of features in this amazing software.

1. It'd be great if it kept a detailed log of everything you did within the program. I hate writing tickets so anything that can help me would be awesome.

2. Also, it'd be nice if you could email that log a little easier.

Otherwise it's a great item. Thanks for doing it!

Thank you! And thanks for your suggestions, both are already in my to do list :)

Hi all,

I've just released version 1.3.1.1:

- FRST was not being saved to the location selected by the user. That bug as been fixed.
- Added to the tooltips of Complete Internet Repair and NetAdapter Repair All-In-One buttons, the information that Windows Repair Toolbox will attempt to repair the internet connection by itself if it isn't possible to download those tools.
- Added a tooltip to GPU-Z button (it was missing).
- Updated 7-Zip components to version 16.02.

As a side note, i also moved WRT from my retro-games website to its own separated host.

Thanks!

Hi guys,

I've just spotted a problem with the CPU temperature monitor, affecting versions 1.1.0.0 and later (it does not affect older versions).

The problem is that the temperature value isn't getting updated. It shows the current CPU temperature when the Windows Repair Toolbox opens, but it won’t update / refresh the values afterwards.

I'll update WRT asap. Thanks and i'm sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused.

Hi,

Version 1.3.1.2 is now available, it solves the problem described above.

Version 1.3.1.2:

- Fixed a problem with the CPU temperature monitor, that affected versions 1.1.0.0 and later. The problem was that the CPU temperature value wasn't getting updated /refreshed (it was displaying the correct temperature value at WRT startup, but the value wasn't being updated afterwards).

Thanks.

Hi all,

version 1.4.0.0 is now online.

Version 1.4.0.0:

- Added the ability to add custom tools to Windows Repair Toolbox (in the new tab "Custom Tools").

- If the unattended fix process gets unexpectedly interrupted (that will happen, for instance, when one of the malware removal tools forces a reboot in order to remove some infection, or due to malware reaction to some tool), the next time Windows Repair Toolbox starts you'll be informed about what was the tool running when it happened, so that you can continue the unattended fix process from that point forward.

- Windows Repair All-in-One logs will now also be attached to the final "Unattended_Fix_Logs.zip". A bug that was preventing TDSS Killer logs to be attached has also been fixed.

- In the "Settings" tab there's now an option to display the CPU temperature information in Fahrenheit (°F).

- Replaced the great but long time discontinued JavaRa for the official Java Uninstall Tool.

Side notes:
- the new functionality that allows adding tools to WRT involves editing a .xml file using Notepad++. I've tried to make the instructions as clear as i could, but please let me know if it's confusing, or if there's anything i should do to make them more easily understandable. Any question, just let me now and i'll be happy to help.

- I'm aware that, unfortunately, Snappy Driver Installer has been discontinued. I decided to keep it since that's a very recent event and for sure many people will continue to use it anyway.

Any questions, suggestions or bug reports, please let me know.

Thanks!

Hi @AlexCa - I purchased your software last year and use it regularly along with UVK. Lately have had a problem with downloading CCleaner. Any thoughts? Thanks

Hi @River Valley Computer, the program has always been freeware and doesn't have a paid version. Donations are accepted though, but not mandatory. If you paid for it, you have been scammed. Make sure to always download from: http://www.windows-repair-toolbox.com/

Regarding CCleaner apparently it's working fine, can you try it again? If you get any other errors please let me know so i can check.

Thanks.

I'm sorry - I meant donate - late night typing.

I tried it again this morning and same thing - it just stalls at the download bar, Never does download.

Thanks for a great program.

It's working fine here... Anyone else having the same problem? Start by re-installing the program to make sure you're running the latest version of the program and definitions (Program version should be 1.4.0.0 and Definitions should be 1.0.7.0 - you can verify both in the "About" tab). Did it solved it? If not, maybe the connection is being blocked by some firewall or AV.

Just downloaded the latest portable and CCleaner is downloading and working fine.

Malwarebytes, GWX Control Panel, and Emsisoft were not downloading for me. Tried on a couple machines and it stated the download was not applicable for GWX Control Panel, install was corrupted for Emsisoft and MBAM.

Anyone else have these issues?

Hi @cypress , it's working here. Regarding GWX Control, it's normal to receive that message if you try to run the program in a OS that is not Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 (and i should also add Windows 10). Both Emsisoft and MBAM are downloading and running fine here. What's the Windows version you're using? thanks

I was running Windows 7 Home Premium on the system. GWX worked the first time. But not the second time I tried to downloaded. I couldn't get Emsisoft to install. MBAM ended up working.

I'll try them again though.

I've tested the downloads again in Windows 7 and they are working fine. Probably the downloads didn't complete for some reason, and the program ended up trying to run a corrupted version of the files (that won't run and will return an error message). That used to happen sometimes with Microsoft Safety Scanner, and so i implemented a verification before attempting to run the file: if it doesn't match, it will try to re-download. I'll consider extending that feature to all other programs.

Hi all,

a new version of Windows Repair Toolbox is now available (version 1.5.0.0):

- WRT will now detect and use the system proxy settings to connect to the network and download the programs.

- Implemented a check before attempting to run a downloaded program: if it doesn't match the size of the one in the server, it will try to re-download it for another two times.

- The CPU temperature is now retrieved in a more efficient way.

- Fixed a bug that would turn off the CPU temperature monitor if temperature of the CPU reached above 100ºC.

- Under “Useful Tools”: replaced GWX Control with TCPView.

- Under “Windows”: replaced Msconfig and Regedit with Event Viewer and Reliability Monitor.

-Under “Repairs”: replaced Dial-A-Fix with a link to the built-in Windows Troubleshooting tools; replaced Avast Browser Cleanup with Ultra Adware Cleaner.

- Under “Uninstallers”: replaced Geek Uninstaller with Revo Uninstaller (the free version now also supports 64-bit versions of Windows)

- Some other minor improvements and fixes.

As usual, any questions, suggestions or bug reports, please let me know.
Thanks!
