Fab's AutoBackup 7 Pro - a must have tool for techs

Hey @fabs loving version 7! just one question, please.
How do I change the font colour for the text on the transfer window?
(The text that shows what's being transferred.)
On my darker blue background the text is black and hard to see.
I have made a little change for that. Now, it will get the same color as the "Log" label text. It now uses the "CategoryFontColor" value of the BRANDING section of the "autobackup.ini file" instead of the "ItemFontColor" value. Would that be OK for you?

@edit: can I remove the "Pro" word from the end of my business name?
While V7 was in beta test, I have been asked to add that "Pro" mention clearly shown in order to make a quick visual difference between Pro and consumer versions.
Now, I have also made changes to keep it only if the name has not been changed. The "Pro" mention will still remain on the title bar but that should not be a big deal right ? This way, branded names look like they should but it is still easy to make the difference quickly between versions.

I am waiting for a bug fix test result and will release this version as soon as I get it.
Edit: I got the result I was waiting for. Updating now

I haven't seen every post, but from what I can tell v7 cannot restore a v6 archive, correct?
Yes, that's right. This cannot be done directly.
Anyway, there is a trick for this:
Let's say I have a multi user backup made with V6 stored at in "E:\Backup\2018-03-23\ComputerName" withsubfolder like "User1\archive", "User2\Archive", "PUBLIC\archive"
Create a text file named "backup.conf" at this folder's root (where there are folders with the users names) and put the following information in it (adapt it with your backup information):
Code:
[USER1]
ArchivePath=USER1\archive

[USER2]
ArchivePath=USER2\archive

[PUBLIC]
ArchivePath=PUBLIC\archive
Save it with UTF-8 encoding (using the dropdown menu in the notepad's save as dialog).
Just make sure that your file's full name is "backup.conf" and not "backup.conf.txt" if the known file extensions are hidden in your explorer

This should work now!

Fab's AutoBackup 7 and Fab's AutoBackup 7 Pro V7.0.0.32194 have just been released.
Change log for both versions:
Fixed:
- Rare error messages while copying files showing something like "HI0 is not a valid integer value". The copy process could not resume after it.
- Changed the font's text color on the transfer window (white by default now). It is now tied to the "CategoryFontColor" value of the BRANDING section of the "autobackup.ini" file instead of the "ItemFontColor" value which is black by default.
- Pro version only: The "Pro" mention was added after the branding name if running pro version. This mention only remains in the title's bar in this case.

Note: A corrective update has been released for Fab's AutoBackup 6 (6.13.4.31584) too since it was affected by the error messages issue as well.

Grab it from your orders history's details on the shop's website at https://store.fpnet.fr/account.php?language=en or using the bundled updater tool (click the "Download Fab's AutoBackup 7.X" link within the program and get the updated files).

Perfect. Thanks Fab. ;):)

I'm confused as v7 has changed. When I back up a user profile the Public profile data goes with it. When I restore that profile the Public data does not restore. It shows up separate but when you try to target the "Public" profile on the destination machine it can't find it. What am I missing about restoring the Public profile data? V7 wants to make a new profile called PUBLIC and I don't want two public profiles. ...still confused.....

Well, this needs definitely to be improved.
To restore only your public files, choose it in the source profiles, then, select any user profile in the target profiles.
The public files will be restored in the public profile anyway.
In a next version, as soon as the public folder is selected, there will be no need to select any target profile and the local public profile will be selected directly. This will make more sense

Is it putting the public document files in the personal user directories? I'm confused again...

I just want public files to transfer to public like they used to but now they are broken out separately and it is not intuitive to choose a personal profile to put them into. I looked to a corresponding "Public" profile to transfer them into and it's not there.

It looks like I have to sort this right now and release an update ASAP.
The program is not malfunctioning, this is just a glitch, not a big deal!

But once again, nothing is broken here. Let start the explanation again:
- Select the "PUBLIC" profile as source
- Select whatever user profile as target ( I SWEAR PUBLIC FILES WILL NOT GO THERE )
- Restore the public files. You can see that there is NO user tab, so public items will be restored to the public folder and not the user profile selected in a first place.

What I was looking for (intuitively) since v7 will handle multiple profiles is that Public on the destination machine is also shown on the right when selecting.

Yes, that does not makes sense I know. I am working right now at this but trust me, it does not matter what user profile you select as "target" for the public items.

The other question I had was how do multiple PUBLIC and Backup.config files/folders exist in the same directory? I have a single folder for a customer and backup multiple machines in to it. It appears they will overwrite each other.

It is better to put your backups in separate directories or the program will have no way to make a difference between 2 backups from 2 different machines in the same folder.

I have made the necessary changes for that and sent a link to a test version via private message. Please let me know if it makes more sense for you!

It looks great. It's exactly what I expected to find when matching up profiles.

Nicely done. Thanks!

Is there a way to store logs/report files at the originating point where the application was run? (Even possibly with the original PC name as the file name?)

I have only just recently purchased v6/7 Pro and they completed somewhat successfully, but stalled at the finish line. Being a bit crunched for time, I didn't bother to check the file that it saved on the desktop, and just deleted it. (This has happened on about 3-4 different systems, but will be sure to save the file next time.)
