@coffee - Why would anyone throw something out that doesn't work anymore?

You never seen the last place I hung my hat - he calls himself a recycler, but he is really a hoarder!

After spending 3 weeks or so building my new cabinets for storage and sifting thru a bunch of junk I swear I will never hold on to junk again. Im still not done going thru stuff because the garbage people will not take it and the recycling place doesnt like plastic. So, Its hard to get rid of junk. I think I will start disguising stuff in garbage bags and try and sip it by the garbage people. lol..

Yes, but disguising items like that will place them into the landfill and they will never break down - unless your locality has an incinerator - then it doesn't really matter.

When I was at the recycling plant I talked to a worker there and asked if they would just take things like printers. They told me they would take them but there is no worth to them. Then I asked what they would do with it? They said they just through them out. lol...

I have a feeling this part of the thread should probably be moved somewhere else

Who knows, Maybe in a few hundred years all this plastic will disintegrate back to oil? lol

One can only hope.

Maybe we need a recycling sub-board? Or at least something like that - where anyone who is in the know could post solutions for recycling?

Seems a perfectly reasonable modification to me for those warmer climates

Seems like a good idea to me,lol. We get 45~46 deg celsius summers here, so.....

Seems a perfectly reasonable modification to me for those warmer climates

Used to see that all the time when I sailed in Galveston Bay, TX. They'd put them in the companion way door or hatch.

I think you may be right. There's so much media-overload these days, it's becoming difficult to remember what was online, on TV or in real life!

Didn't they turn a few old cars into some kind of makeshift motorhomes in one episode? I seem to recall something James May created, complete with ornaments, fireplace, etc being driven to destruction by one of the other two muppets.

While we're on the subject of wacky car mods, another YouTube clip that springs to mind, from a couple of years ago, is this Latvian and his wood-powered car. I can't decide if he's crazy or a genius. I guess there's a fine line ...
