Windows Repair Toolbox

Hi @AlexCa
Just downloaded the new version (portable) and unpacked it to a new folder. Works great! No issues! :D

FWIW, I ran 1.9.0.1 against the old 1.0.9.0 version and the error "Root Element Missing" seems to be a problem with the license being displayed/not loading?

Hi @Barcelona, no that's not the case. The licence is only displayed the first time you open the program, in order to save time. That was something related to your computer not being able to read the xml in the server, or maybe the server being inaccessible from your location for awhile. Anyway I'm happy that's working now.

I just tried the program -- looks great! On my system, the new call-out doesn't appear, just an empty white box that is superimposed on "+info."

Hi all, I've released version 1.8.0.5. It contains just a small change: the extra information about the system drive, that used to be shown when the mouse was hovered over the "Disk" label, is now shown when the mouse is hovered over a new blue "+info" label, because previously there was no way that the user could know that the information was there. This is how it looks now:

Thank you.

Hey @Larry Sabo, thank you. The extra information about the system drive is are provided by smartmontools (the same tool that powers GSmartControl). Probably that model is still not fully supported by the program (at least by the stable version). I'll keep up integrating the new stable versions as they become available in WRT.

Hi everyone, I've released version 1.9.0.3 of WRT:

- The internet connection monitor now returns the result of the test much more quickly (in the tests i did, this fixed the issue of WRT showing “not responding” for a several seconds when the internet gets disconnected).

Hi all, version 1.9.0.4 is now available:

- Improved the verification of program and definitions updates at startup (made it more accurate and streamlined).

Under some circumstances WRT would believe that the server was accessible, when in fact it was not. That caused it to try to check updates at startup, when it shouldn't. And that could cause the error previously reported by @Barcelona , and i also suspect that it would sometimes make the program get stuck in the "Loading...please wait..." screen.

- Fixed the highlighting problem reported by @Your PCMD (when one button is clicked, another unrelated one got focus). Additionally, the TAB button now allows to navigate through the "Settings" tab buttons and checkboxes (regarding the checkboxes, they don't gain visible focus, and they can be check/unckecked using SPACE key).

(@Your PCMD i also realized that the "not responding" error you were getting was most likely caused by a poor reaction of WRT's internet connection monitor to your internet connection having drops - hence msert download failing for 3 times in your another screenshot - , so I was able to improved it in the previous version of WRT. It now reacts faster and shouldn't make the program "not responding".)

- A few other internal improvements.

@Barcelona
I've found out that I was also "belloooowing" in the "Notes" tab and in the custom.xml file! :D
I also fixed that. Thank you again for pointing that out.

Hi,

i would like to share with you guys / gals this little software I've just finished to write called Windows Repair Toolbox. It's basically a tool that:
- allow to quickly download and run some commonly used software when approaching a damaged Windows system;
- displays some relevant information about the computer (CPU temperature, name and % of use; amount of RAM installed on the system and % of use; amount of free space left in C:\ partition; Windows edition and install date)
- allow to perform some quality assurance tests;
- allow to run some automated functions.

It can be downloaded here: https://windows-repair-toolbox.com/

It's still beta, and it should work with all Windows versions between XP and 8.1.
.Net Framework 4 is required.

Disclaimer: i'm not a professional programmer! I'm just a guy who likes to learn, but i'll try to keep up with this project...

Hey @AlexCa Could I offer my suggestion to be able to run our own programs from the "Custom Tools" section as a feature request?
I use a lot of "portables" like System Ninja, Bleachbit, LastActivityView, FreeZip, Nirlauncher, PowerShell Portable, Speccy, Unstoppable Copier, Raw Copy, and heaps more, including other malware scanners not included in your tool, like Vipre rescue,
What about running Fabs Autobackup from there as well? As long as Fab @fabs hasn't got any licensing issues with allowing us to do that?

Neat little utility... thanks
It's a bit better than just a "neat little utility!" Once you start using it you'll quickly find it becomes a very important part of your arsenal.
Like Fabs AutoBackup, SDI Origin (built into WRT), and others.
If you haven't got a copy of Fabs AutoBackup, you should buy it! I can't run my business efficiently without it!

...and don't forget to click the "donate" buttons on the Snappy Driver Installer Origin and WRT website, or in the "About" tab in the program itself, like I did today!
These programs are indispensable and the developers need all the help they can get!
The guys that develop these programs are also fellow "Technibblers!"

@Barcelona , thank you for your suggestions.

I imagine that what you're asking is a functionality that would allow you to drop your programs in a folder inside the Windows_Repair_Toolbox folder, and have those programs listed in the "Custom Tools" list?

About Fabs AutoBackup, I will not be adding it to the baseline of tools of WRT just because I prefer to keep only freeware there.

Anyway you can easily add it to the "Custom Tools" tab. Store it in your server (or maybe @fabs provides a direct download link for the program?), and create an entry in the "custom.xml" file.

Something like this:
<LINKS title="Fabs AutoBackup" link="hxxp://example.com/AutoBackup6Pro.exe" exe="AutoBackup6Pro.exe"/>

Yes, this is what I was asking for. :)

I don't think this will work as login is required to download the program.
Maybe @fabs has a suggestion?

I would want to run Fab's alone. I would want to see what I am backing up. Some clients keep stuff in folders not backed up by default. I want to browse the drive so I can add those in the extra folders tab.

Relying on the default settings of Fab's is a disaster waiting to happen for a client that you will "responsible" for.

Especially look in the Users folder and on the root"c" drive for what looks important.

?? Running Fabs Autobackup from a different location would make no difference to how it does things normally.
It's functionality would be exactly the same.
I wasn't talking about "intergrating" it into WRT, just being able to run it from the "Custom" programs folder, which would just open the program as it normally does.
