Fab's AutoBackup 7 Pro - a must have tool for techs

So just download this for him and he could restore all 63GB of data to his new computer using the trial version of Autobackup 7 Pro?
Yes sir. Trial version has limits in backup and transfer mode but not restore.

You could also provide it to him and brand it a little bit.

Edit : I've looked at my code and there are some glitches in this configuration with some items not working as expected. I'm fixing them. This will require an update.
If you need it fast, I'll send a link in a private message so I won't have to hurry with an official update ;)

And yet, you are. I give people the files and tell them that I can properly restore them. Why are giving away the secret sauce?
Not just the secret sauce, the keys to a heavy piece of machinery that they have no training or experience in. I mean, Fabs is easy to use... For a tech.

On that note, I know another one of my tools not only has the password option to protect the licence, but also a manual licence expiration control for the licence holder. I don't even know what app it was (MAYBE Fabs? I've never looked) and I wondered about the use case. Now I know ;)

Fab's has a password option for the techs who leave it on end users machines. If a password is set, license information is encrypted in autobackup.ini file and in the registry. This prevents end users from running the tool.

Why are giving away the secret sauce?

Because it's a commercially available piece of software and it's our duty to serve our clients best? Sometimes that means giving them a quick piece of advice to allow them to DIY successfully.

And doing just that gets you good will and incredible word of mouth advertising on more than one occasion. Worth its weight in gold.

Absolutely no way I'd leave it on a client computer.
Its portable and small in size so its easy to transfer to a client PC remotely when needed.
Some of my clients are themselves "tech savvy" and/or have family members that are so leaving it there for them to see and copy is a big nono.

It's doing it again -- not concluding and closing a back-up when it appears the job is done. The progress bar just keeps going back and forth and the window is dimmed.

Sorry. I thought I got this one but obviously not...
Edit: I've added a couple of instructions so this thing would disappear while copying files if it's still there. That will be in the next update. I think I'll release it tomorrow if I can.

Hello,
Fab's AutoBackup 7 Pro and Fab's AutoBackup 7 Home & Office V7.9.2.5488 have just been released.

Here is the change log for both versions:

Added:
- The program can now grab QuickBooks 2022 license information.

Fixed:
- Backup / Restore / Transfer for Firefox-like web browsers will be faster as an unnecessary storage folder is now excluded from file copy.
- Using EdgeExport to get legacy Edge favorites could crash the program if current .Net Framework installed version was below 4.6. Now, if .Net Framework version is under 4.6, the legacy "Microsoft Edge Favorites" export feature is disabled to prevent this.
- There could be some blocking error messages at startup saying that Powershell.exe could net be found on some systems where its path its not registered. Now, the program will call it using its full path instead of just "powershell.exe" to avoid this.
- Trial version was supposed to be fully functional for restore jobs. It was not the case for every item.
- A dimmed screen saying that the program was still processing some items could remain on the top while the copy job was performed correctly.

Grab it from your orders history's details on the shop's website at https://store.fpnet.fr/account.php or using the bundled updater tool (click the "Download Fab's AutoBackup 7.X" link within the program and get the updated files).

No way you would, none of us likely would intentionally (For fear of risking our own licence) -- But accidents happen, employees happen (this was my instance), and sneaky competitors happen. :)

I bought Fab's Autobackup 4 in 2012. Decided to upgrade to version 7. I asked for an upgrade discount and I received one from Fab's :) Very nice! Looking forward to the new functionality of the program! Glad to have the latest and greatest version.

Hello,
Fab's online store has been migrated to a new platform since the old one is not supported anymore by its developer.
All new orders will now be placed here. If you need to get access to an order placed before May 1st 2022, you'll need to go to https://archive.fpnet.fr

By the way,
Fab's AutoBackup 7 Pro and Fab's AutoBackup 7 Home & Office V7.9.2.5529 have been released.

Here is the change log for both versions:

Added:
- Better support for Outlook PST files on a network share.
- Outlook 2019 and newer do not support profiles migration from Outlook 2010. Now, when restoring or transferring an Outlook 2010 profile, Fab's AutoBackup will also try to add it to Outlook 2016 and newer versions. This way, Outlook will find it at startup and migrate it to the newer version.
Note: in order to avoid potential problems, if a profile with the same name is already registered for Outlook 2016 or newer, this migration will not be performed.

Grab it from your orders history's details on the shop's website at https://archive.fpnet.fr/account.php (ordered before May 1st 2022) or https://store.fpnet.fr/en/order-history for newer orders. You can also use the bundled updater tool (click the "Download Fab's AutoBackup 7.X" link within the program and get the updated files).

Very minor issue with the update process:

Ran my current version (7.9.2.5488) and checked for update, clicked to get the available update.
Got an error "pointer invalid" and the app window closed.

However the updater still ran, updated successfully and started the new version of Autobackup automatically.

So functionally it worked OK, just a messy error popup is all.

@fabs
It's been 3 years since I purchased my 3 year license. I can't remember if you give a discount on renewals or not. If not no worries but wasn't sure.
My order number on the previous platform was 13835
Regardless thank you for your work. :)
